Online English course with scholarships for public school teachers is offered by the Cultural Institute

According to MEC, about 85% of English teachers in public schools in Brazil do not master the language. This is especially due to the inefficiency of courses and lack of opportunities to practice English. Therefore, the North American Brazilian Cultural Institute announces a new online English course, aimed at public school teachers, with 10% full scholarships.

The language most learned in the world as a second language is English, but Brazil occupies the 60th position in the world ranking of language proficiency and the 3rd place in Latin America, according to the academic coordinator of the Cultural Institute, Natália Matte.

According to the coordinator, the purpose of the online course is to improve the teacher's ability in the English language, whatever the degree of knowledge they have of the language. The Institute has enough expertise to provide this qualification, as it is a binational center with more than eight decades of experience. having, therefore, all the credentials to do so.

In order to qualify public school English language teachers, the Cultural Institute opened enrollment for the online English course, focusing on the language development of teachers.

The online English course is scheduled to start on August 6, 2022, and has a total workload of 45 hours, in weekly classes on Tuesdays from 19:21 pm to 30:9 pm or Saturdays from 11:30 am to XNUMX:XNUMX am.

About the Institute

The Instituto Cultural Brasileiro Norte-Americano was one of the first institutions to open space for the English language in the city of Porto Alegre. Cultural's vocation for work in the area of ​​education is strongly linked to the origin of the institute.

In the 30s, the interest in getting to know a new culture up close, which was beginning to be disseminated through literature and cinema, aroused in a group of intellectuals from Porto Alegre the desire to travel to the United States. Starting like this, the challenge of Erico Verissimo and his partners in creating an institution that, even far away, would cultivate the language, customs and culture of the United States. On July 14, 1938, with the collaboration of the Consul of the United States, the North American Brazilian Cultural Institute was inaugurated.

In these more than eighty years, the Institute has always been involved with cultural, educational and social actions, receiving visual artists, singers, writers, musicians, both Brazilian and American, the latter brought by the US embassy. Lectures, seminars, competitions, art exhibitions also took place systematically. An artistic reference in times when there were few cultural spaces in Porto Alegre, the Institute welcomed artists who today are prominent in various areas of artistic expression in Brazil.

Entries can be made until the 20th of July. To enroll in the online English course, the Cultural Affairs Bureau requires a free leveling test. The Institute will offer a full scholarship and all materials free of charge for every ten students enrolled.
