Radix and IBP Promote Academic Competition for Undergraduate or Graduate Students on Long-Duration Energy Storage Technologies. Submissions Until July 26.
Radix, a global technology company, along with the Brazilian Institute of Oil and Gas (IBP), is organizing a highly challenging academic competition as part of the iUP Innovation Connection online development, alongside ROG. This initiative is open for submissions until July 26 and aims to award the most innovative solutions developed for the oil, gas, and energy sectors.
The competition offers a unique opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to showcase their skills and creative ideas in long-duration energy storage technologies. Participating in this contest will allow students to stand out in the academic and professional landscape, providing valuable networking and visibility in the market. The ‘iUP Innovation Connections’ competition is one of the largest global energy conferences, and registrations are open until July 26. The challenge is aimed at undergraduate or graduate students from Brazilian educational institutions recognized by the MEC. It seeks to award the best solutions developed for the oil, gas, and energy industry, encouraging the participation of young talents in the sector.
Competition Details
Teams wishing to participate must consist of at least three and a maximum of five members. The theme of this edition of the competition is ‘Long-Duration Energy Storage Technologies (LDES)’, covering the areas of Mechanical Energy, Thermal Energy, and Thermochemical Energy. The competition aims to encourage participants to present innovative solutions that can positively impact society. According to Luana Britto, manager of the Radix Corporate University, the focus is to foster discussions and work with open and collaborative innovation, in addition to demonstrating the sector’s commitment to investments in technology and innovation.

Phases of the Competition
The competition is divided into two phases: the first, which is the online preliminary project and elimination, takes place from July 29 to August 16. The second phase, which is the final project, involves online development from September 2 to September 22, culminating with the final pitch presentation, which will be in-person on September 26. This presentation will occur during the iUP Innovation Connections event, an important innovation event that will take place alongside ROG.e 2024 in Rio de Janeiro (RJ).
Awards and Partnerships
The prizes for the winners of the competition are quite attractive. The 1st place will receive R$ 8,000, the possibility of an internship at Radix for all team members, and a visit to the Research Center, Development and Innovation Leopoldo Américo Miguez de Mello (Cenpes), of Petrobras. The teams that achieve 2nd and 3rd place will receive R$ 4,000 and R$ 2,000, respectively, along with a visit to Cenpes.
