Petrobras Informed Progress on the Sale of Stakes in Five Power Plants in the States of Pernambuco, Tocantins, Goiás, and Amazonas

The sale concerns the stakes in the companies: Brasympe Energia S.A., Energética Suape II, Termoelétrica Potiguar, Companhia Energética Manauara (CEM), and Brentech Energia.
Petrobras holds a 20% stake in Brasympe and 20% in Suape II, both located in Pernambuco; 20% in TEP, located in Tocantins; 40% in CEM, in Amazonas, and 30% in Brentech, located in the state of Goiás. The plants range from thermal power plants to hydropower plants and have a total installed capacity of nearly 700 megawatts.

Thermal Power Plant in Rio Grande do Sul Is Key to Attracting GWM
Over the years, Petrobras has been selling a series of assets in an attempt to reduce its debt and focus on the exploration and production of oil in the Brazilian offshore.
“The potential buyers qualified for the binding phase will receive an invitation letter with detailed instructions about the divestment process, including guidelines for conducting due diligence and submitting binding proposals,” said Petrobras in the statement.
About Petrobras’ Stakes in Thermoelectric and Hydroelectric Plants
Petrobras holds:
- 20% of Brasympe, which in turn owns 60% of Termocabo, which owns a thermal power plant fueled by fuel oil located in Pernambuco.
- 20% of Suape II, which owns a thermal power plant fueled by fuel oil located in Pernambuco, with an installed capacity of 381.25 MW.
- 20% of TEP, a holding company that has a 60% stake in Companhia Energética Manauara (CEM) and a 70% stake in Areia Energia and Água Limpa Energia, which own small hydropower plants located in Tocantins.
- 40% of CEM, which has a dual-fuel thermal power plant (fuel oil and natural gas) located in Amazonas.
- 30% of Brentech, owner of the Goiânia II Thermal Power Plant fueled by diesel, located in Goiás.
