According to the Executive Secretary of Abespetro, Gilson Coelho, “After the auction phase and the signing of contracts, we have now entered the development phase of production projects. The pandemic caused a downturn in activities in Brazil, but did not suspend the development of these strategies. With the gradual recovery of the global economy, the oil industry in Brazil will also continue its investments to increase oil and gas production.”
According to information from the Brazilian Association of Oil Service Companies (Abespetro), over 200,000 offshore jobs will be created with the resurgence of the oil and gas sector in Brazil, and the city of Macaé will be the biggest beneficiary.
“Local companies were the most affected by the pandemic. For this reason, business institutions are working to create an agenda with large companies to ensure the practice of promoting local content. In simple math, if every bolt, oil, and service from the offshore industry is purchased and contracted here, our stores and companies will hire more, take many people out of informality, and ensure that the daily bread is never lacking on the tables of the people of Macaé,” says Marcelo Reid (Merrel), a member of the Municipal Commission of Firjan.

The oil and gas market will be promising in 2021 with the construction of thermoelectric plants, and Francisco Navega states that he is excited and happy to implement the project, and he can’t wait to change the scenario of Macaé and transform the municipality into a hub for oil and gas.
For the construction of the 12 new thermoelectric plants, the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) has released R$ 2 billion in financing for the implementation of UTE Marlim Azul Energia S.A.
