Petrobras stated that teams from the Duque de Caxias refinery (Reduc) controlled and extinguished the fire. The fire at the Fluminense refinery had no casualties, and other Reduc units continue operating normally.

The incident was caused by a leak in equipment that pumps fuel oil.

The affected unit was safely shut down, following operational procedures. Technical teams are monitoring the area, and the causes of the incident will be investigated.

Petrobras does not yet know when the refinery will resume normal operations. “The refinery will operate at reduced capacity until the unit returns to operation.”

According to Petrobras, there will be no impact on market supply, as Reduc has products stored for delivery.

Reduc is one of the largest in Brazil in installed oil refining capacity, with about 239,000 barrels per day, capable of producing diesel oil, gasoline, aviation kerosene (QAV), asphalt, among others, according to information from the state-owned company’s website.

Petrobras Signs Contract for Chartering Two AHTS Vessels from Norwegian Solstad Offshore

Petrobras has signed an agreement with global company Solstad for the chartering of two AHTS vessels, the Far Sagaris and Far Statesman. The announcement was made on Tuesday (16) by the Norwegian multinational that provides maritime and offshore services.

The contract will be for a duration of 3 years to support maritime activities for Petrobras’s exploration and production in Brazilian offshore waters.

Both vessels will sail under the Brazilian REB flag and will be equipped with work class ROVs for operations at water depths of 3,000m.

The contract is expected to start in September this year, and the value of the agreement, excluding the ROVs, exceeds an amount of MNOK 800 (Norwegian Krone).

Petrobras had also previously signed an agreement for chartering the CSV Far Saga vessel from Solstad, last month, which is also valid for 3 years and is scheduled to start in the third quarter of 2020.
