Petrobras reported that teams from the Duque de Caxias Refinery (Reduc) brigade controlled and extinguished the fire. The fire at the Rio de Janeiro refinery had no victims and the other Reduc units continue to operate normally.
The occurrence was caused by a leak in equipment that pumps fuel oil.
The affected unit was stopped safely, following operating procedures. Technical teams monitor the area and the causes of the occurrence will be analyzed.
Petrobras does not yet know when the refinery will resume its normal operation. "The refinery will operate with reduced load until the unit returns to operation".
According to Petrobras, there will be no impact on market service, since Reduc has products stored for delivery.
Reduc is one of the larger of Brazil in installed oil refining capacity, with about 239 thousand barrels per day, being able to produce diesel oil, gasoline, aviation kerosene (QAV), asphalt, among others, according to information on the state-owned company's website.
