Volkswagen's new partnership allows its electric truck to be used to supply planes in Brazil

After some tests and training, VWCO's e-Delivery is prepared to take Jet-A fuel to BR Aviation customers in Manaus.

Objectives of using the electric truck to supply aircraft

The main objective of using electric trucks to fuel planes is to boost the decarbonization of the aviation segment and also support the promotion of the development of the Amazon Region, in symbiosis with the strategic guidelines of BR Aviation and Pioneiro Combustíveis, of focusing on businesses aimed at the transition towards cleaner and more renewable energy sources. The partnership between the companies and the Volkswagen presents a quick possibility to reduce the impact of the aviation sector on global warming.

The electric truck used to supply planes in Manaus is the e-Delivery 11, from Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus, which was already present in the market for urban deliveries. The model has a capacity of 11,4 tons and is equipped with an electric traction motor with a power of 408 hp (300 kW) and three LFP battery modules with a total capacity of 105 kWh, which allows autonomy of up to 110 km. In addition, it also has an e-PTO system, which provides an electric power take-off capable of providing the necessary power so that the e-PTO engine can drive the fuel transfer system pump.
