Renault Wants to Revolutionize the Market! In Up to 16 Months, It Will Launch a Cheaper Electric Car than the Kwid E-Tech, Targeting the BYD Dolphin Mini! With an Estimated Price Below R$ 107 Thousand in Europe, the Model Promises to Shake Up the Market and Fully Popularize Electric Vehicles. Will This Be the End of Chinese Domination?

In recent years, the electric car market has grown rapidly, driven by technological advancements and incentives for sustainable vehicles.

However, one of the main challenges remains price, which makes electric cars inaccessible to a large part of consumers. But this may be about to change.

Renault has confirmed that it is developing a cheaper electric car than the Kwid E-Tech, aiming to compete with the BYD Dolphin Mini, one of the most popular models in the segment today.

The French automaker is betting on an innovative project to make this new model competitive and accessible.

Accelerated Development and Strategic Partnership

To realize this ambitious project, Renault will rely on the support of Dacia, its subsidiary specialized in budget cars.

The brand already has experience in developing the Kwid E-Tech and will now have less than a year and a half to design, finalize, and launch the new electric car.

Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault, stated that the future competitor to the Dolphin Mini will be developed in “record time” and should be ready in up to 16 months.

The model, however, will not just be a new version of the current Spring, sold in Europe, but rather a completely new project.

Dacia, known for manufacturing affordable models without compromising quality, will play a crucial role in this process.

The brand is already working on developing adaptable platforms for low-cost electric vehicles, which may accelerate production and reduce the final price.

Price of Renault’s New Electric Car

Although the name and technical specifications have not yet been released, there is already a price estimate.

The CEO of Renault revealed that the car will cost less than 18,000 euros — equivalent to about R$ 107.4 thousand, in direct conversion, excluding taxes and fees.

If this projection holds true, the new Renault will be cheaper than the BYD Dolphin Mini, which is priced between R$ 115.8 thousand and R$ 119.8 thousand in Brazil, depending on the version.

This difference could make the Renault model an even more attractive alternative for consumers interested in electric mobility.

Despite this, it is important to consider that import costs, taxes, and local fees may impact the final price in Brazil.

Still, if Renault can maintain a competitive price, it could shake up the market and attract a larger audience to electric vehicles.

Expected Technology and Range

Although technical details have not yet been revealed, experts speculate that Renault’s new electric car will feature a efficient battery and a low-consumption motor, ensuring competitive range.

Currently, the Kwid E-Tech has a range of about 185 km in the official Inmetro cycle. The BYD Dolphin Mini offers up to 280 km of range, depending on the version.

To stand out, the new Renault model will need to offer a similar or greater range.

Additionally, it is expected that the car will include modern features such as energy regeneration systems, advanced connectivity, and an aerodynamic design optimized for energy efficiency.

Market Impact and Competition with BYD

The BYD Dolphin Mini has been one of the great successes in the electric vehicle market.

Its cost-effectiveness and advanced technology have helped establish it as a viable option for consumers looking to transition to electric mobility.

Now, Renault aims to compete in this space and change the game.

Renault’s announcement places more pressure on other automakers, who will need to find solutions to reduce the prices of their electric vehicles without compromising quality and technology.

This could stimulate a new wave of competitiveness in the sector, directly benefiting consumers.

The introduction of a more affordable model could mark a milestone for electrification in Brazil and worldwide.

If Renault can deliver a competitive, accessible, and efficient car, it could disrupt BYD’s dominance and expand access to electric vehicles.

The market awaits more details, but one thing is certain: the competition for leadership among popular electric vehicles is more intense than ever.
