In addition to purchasing Eletrobras’ wind farms in Rio Grande do Sul, Omega will also assume the debts of the projects, totaling approximately 1.5 billion reais. The deal was announced by the companies at the beginning of August.
The transaction involved the purchase of Eletrobras’ entire stake in the wind farm of Santa Vitória do Palmar, located in the south of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, as well as other projects totaling 583 megawatts of installed capacity.
With this acquisition, Omega is expanding its activities beyond the Northeast and Southeast and establishing a presence in Southern Brazil, while also increasing its portfolio in the country’s wind energy market, which is still modest and below 10%.
Omega Signs Multi-Million Dollar Contract with French EDF Renewables
Omega Geração intends to expand projects in the state of Bahia and announced the acquisition of half of the stake in wind farms from the French multinational EDF Renewables for R$ 662 million.
The binding agreement is for the purchase of a stake in the wind farms Ventos da Bahia 1 and 2, which have an installed capacity of 182.6 megawatts. According to Omega’s statement, the contract includes debts and the company will pay 55% of the amount in cash, while the remainder involves accepting the long-term indebtedness of the assets.
