The Innovative Operation Conducted by the Ship Carlos Drummond de Andrade Represents a Milestone for Transpetro and the Petrobras System, Highlighting Commitment to Excellence and Cost Reduction.
The Port of Santos, in São Paulo, made history between the 15th and 17th of this month. For the first time, the port conducted a heavy fuel oil loading operation for export (OCEX) on an Aframax Class ship.
We are talking about the Carlos Drummond de Andrade (CDA). Imagine the size of the vessel: it carried 48,000 tons of OCEX, just to start!
Transpetro Elevates Operations with Aframax Class
The operation was a significant step for Transpetro and the entire Petrobras System. Maneuvering a vessel the size of an Aframax is no easy task, but Transpetro demonstrated that it has a steady hand on the helm. This reinforces not only the company’s skill in facing challenges but also its commitment to safety and cost reduction.

After the operation in Santos, the CDA will set sail for the terminal in São Sebastião. There, it completed its load, reaching an incredible 108,000 tons! This was made possible through a technique called “ship to ship” transshipment with the vessel Amazon Victory. Finally, the CDA departed for its final destination: Singapore.
Impact on the Petrobras System and Transpetro
Each of these operations within the Petrobras System is a milestone. We are not just talking about numbers, but about how this resonates with Transpetro’s commitment to operational excellence. And the victory is collective: it was the teamwork of various departments from both Petrobras and Transpetro that made this operation a success.
