The state of Espírito Santo has received investments from major companies such as multinational WEG, mining company Vale, Jurong Shipyard, Whirlpool, and more, which will generate over 10,000 job openings. The state has a forecast of opening 80 new stores every week until the end of the year, showing that the industry is also showing signs of improvement, with the expansion of factories, plants, and the construction of new distribution centers. Shipbuilding Will Open New Jobs in Espírito Santo
The Jurong Shipyard Aracruz, in the state of Espírito Santo, won the bidding for the construction of the Antarctic Support Ship (NApAnt) for the Brazilian Navy, which will create 600 direct jobs in the construction and another 6,000 indirect jobs. The vacancies will be filled directly with Jurong and through outsourcing companies via local Sines. The Navy expects the new ship to be built by 2025.
The information that Jurong Shipyard Aracruz in the state of Espírito Santo had won the bidding for the construction of a new vessel for the Armed Forces was confirmed by the Commander of the Brazilian Navy, Admiral Almir Garnier Santos, who made the announcement yesterday aboard the Multi-Purpose Aircraft Carrier Atlantic, in the presence of President Jair Bolsonaro. Regarding the number of jobs, it was reported by the Federal State Company of Naval Project Management (Emgepron). Jurong Shipyard Aracruz was the winner of the bidding for the ship construction, surpassing the finalists Kership S.A.S and Damen Shipyards/Wilson Sons Shipyards.

WEG and Vale Will Generate Over a Thousand Jobs
The multinational WEG, manufacturer of electric motors, has announced another investment involving millions. By 2023, the company plans to invest R$ 178.2 million to expand and modernize its factory located in the municipality of Linhares, in Espírito Santo. The unit is the second largest industrial park of WEG, surpassed only by the factory located in Jaraguá do Sul, in Santa Catarina, where its headquarters is located. With the new investments, the factory in Espírito Santo, which has a built area of 65,000 m², will increase to 79,000 m², and in addition, the company will also offer 250 new job openings.
Recently, mining company Vale presented a new product, developed over nearly 20 years, which could reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by up to 10% in the steel production of its steelmaking clients. The “green briquette” will initially be produced at plants 1 and 2 of pelletization at the Tubarão Unit in Vitória, in Espírito Santo, which are being converted for this purpose. About 800 new jobs will be generated during production.
The State Will Also Have a New Distribution Center
Whirlpool, the world’s largest manufacturer of appliances and owner of the Brastemp and Consul brands, announced it will build a new distribution center in the city of Serra, in the state of Espírito Santo. The project may receive investments of R$ 5.9 million and the expectation is that 139 direct and indirect jobs will be generated.
According to the Secretary of State for Science, Technology and Economic Development (Sectides), Tyago Hoffmann, the company was attracted through the active prospecting program, which seeks to present the advantages of Espírito Santo to companies from Brazil and abroad. He stated that it was Espírito Santo’s logistical vocation that motivated Whirlpool’s investment.
