Espírito Santo Chili Producers Gain R$ 45 Million Factory Capable of Sterilizing 2,520 Kilograms of Spices Per Hour to Serve Exporters in Latin America.

Technobras inaugurated the facility in Linhares on September 5 and plans to start operations in the second half of the month. The project adds sanitary processing near the farms.

The Dutch equipment has a reported capacity of 2,520 kilograms per hour. The technology utilizes steam to reduce microorganisms without relying on substances banned in demanding markets.

Details were presented by TC Online in an interview about the investment, schedule, and commercial reach of the new factory.

Sterilization Opens Doors That Raw Chili Cannot Reach

Exporters need to meet microbiological limits set by buyers. A shipment with contamination exceeding the standard can be rejected, returned, or devalued even when appearance and flavor are acceptable.

The process reduces this risk by treating the spice under controlled parameters. Sanitary safety becomes a commercial attribute, especially for food industries that use chili in large batches.

The unit does not replace good practices in the field and drying. It adds an industrial barrier after the producer has already taken care of harvesting, storage, and transport.

High humidity before treatment favors fungi and complicates preservation. Therefore, receiving, sampling, and classifying the chili remains a critical part of the chain.

R$ 45 Million Bridges Technology and Espírito Santo Production

Linhares is in a region that has expanded the cultivation of black pepper. Installing the factory near the source reduces part of the transportation and can accelerate the preparation of loads for export.

The investment covers land, construction, equipment, utilities, and control systems. Food operations still require a laboratory, traceability, cleaning, and documentation for audits.

Imported machinery is just one part of the delivery. Local teams need to learn how to operate, maintain, and adjust the process according to humidity, granulation, and product received.

Hourly Capacity Depends on Continuous Flow

2,520 kilograms per hour describes the reported nominal limit. The effective volume varies with product changes, cleaning, maintenance, availability of raw materials, and specifications from each client.

If the factory operates eight hours at maximum capacity, it would process over 20 tons. In practice, starts and stops reduce this simple calculation.

Campaigns can be organized by product to minimize cleaning between batches. This scheduling needs to combine the arrival of raw materials, storage space, and deadlines agreed with each exporter.

Therefore, approved tons are a better indicator than installed capacity. The client purchases treated and documented product, not theoretical hours of equipment.

Steam Needs to Preserve Aroma, Color, and Composition

Sufficient temperature to reduce microorganisms can alter food characteristics if the process is poorly controlled. Time, humidity, and cooling need to be adjusted for each spice.

Laboratories compare samples before and after treatment. Microbiological tests confirm safety, while sensory and chemical analyses verify if the product maintains commercial quality.

The challenge is to treat without altering. Chili is valued for pungency, aroma, and appearance, and buyers do not accept gaining safety at the expense of losing all these attributes.

The Factory May Cater to Other Spices

Although pepper is central to Espírito Santo, equipment of this type can process different herbs and spices based on project, validation, and demand.

Switching products expands the market but increases cleaning complexity. Residues from one spice must not contaminate the next batch or cause aroma or allergen mixing.

Each new application requires parameters and records. Commercial flexibility depends on operational discipline, not solely on the physical capacity of the line.

Whole, crushed, or powdered spices behave differently. Contact area, density, and packaging influence heating and cooling during processing.

Producers can capture value if there is a contract

Local processing does not automatically guarantee a higher price. The gain depends on the negotiation between producers, processors, and exporters, in addition to the cost charged for the service.

Standardized and traced batches tend to reach more demanding buyers. Cooperatives and associations can help small producers gather volume and ensure documentation compliance.

Analyses before delivery prevent transporting loads that will not meet the process. When producers and factories share criteria, corrections can still occur at the source.

The best signal will be a clear difference in compensation. If quality and treatment open new markets, part of that value needs to reach the producers.

Latin America expands the market beyond Espírito Santo

The company aims to serve exporters from other Latin American countries. This ambition requires logistics capable of receiving and returning loads, customs documentation, and recognition of certifications.

International competitors already offer spice sterilization. The Brazilian unit will need to compete on price, timelines, quality, and proximity to producing hubs.

Exchange rates can favor exports and raise costs for imported parts. Keeping critical components in stock reduces the risk of interrupting a sophisticated line due to a small item.

International customers also audit facilities. Organization, calibration of instruments, and cleaning history demonstrate whether results can be consistently replicated for each batch.

Location can be advantageous for domestic loads. To bring foreign products, border and transportation efficiency will be decisive.

Technical jobs accompany a sanitary operation

The factory requires operators, maintenance, laboratory, quality, logistics, and administration. Roles related to food require ongoing training in hygiene, record-keeping, and response to deviations.

The disclosed information does not specify a total number of openings. Candidates should follow official channels and be wary of charges for applications or promises of hiring.

Those who have worked with food understand the weight of the documentation routine. A batch is only released when the process and analysis agree.

September will be the first industrial test

Inauguration and operation are distinct milestones. The scheduled startup in the second half of the month will demonstrate stability, yield, and the time needed to switch products.

Afterward, it will be important to monitor treated tons, customers serviced, countries reached, and compliance rates. These data will reveal whether the investment has found demand compatible with capacity.

I would also observe the relationship with local producers. The factory gains regional relevance when it improves market access, not just when it keeps the machine busy.
