Vessel for Salt Transportation Launched at Sea Represents a Milestone for the Shipyard and National Shipbuilding Amidst Many Challenges

The São Miguel Shipyard, in a ceremony held on Wednesday (07/08), launched another vessel, an important milestone for the naval sector of our country, especially during a phase when shipyards unite against the bill that facilitates the purchase of foreign ships.
The vessel named “D. Yolanda” will be used for salt transportation and will soon be in operation, bringing significant benefits to our country’s export market.

The São Miguel Shipyard is a company of the Bravante Group and is located in an area of approximately 20,000 square meters, situated at the Port of Gradim, in the municipality of São Gonçalo, Rio de Janeiro.
The São Miguel Shipyard was established to provide construction and repair services for the Group’s fleet and third-party vessels.

In operation since the 1970s, this was the first facility to obtain environmental licensing approved by the State of Rio de Janeiro.

The Shipyard is responsible for almost all construction, maintenance, and modernization projects of all maritime units of the Group. Every year, an average of 15 drydockings are managed by the shipyard.

Deliveries

The new constructions of the São Miguel Shipyard in recent years include 2 tugboats equipped with a static towing capacity of 12 tons of Bollard Pull; a barge of 1,800 TBP; 3 conversion projects; and the jumborization of three 2,000 TBP barges, all with double hull construction in the cargo sections.

In recent years, the São Miguel Shipyard was certified by the Brazilian Merchant Marine Fund (FMM) to provide construction services for shipowners. The first approved construction project under the concession, initiated in 2007, received funding from the FMM and BNDES, acting as the financial agent.

The Bravante group, which controls the Shipyard, is a 100% Brazilian group with over 50 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, operating in maritime support, port support, shipbuilding and repair, and environmental protection.
