It is worth noting that England is a country full of opportunities for international students. In Brazil, Reach Cambridge became known as an essay contest that offers a course to study at the University of Cambridge as a prize. However, in reality, the contest is just one part of the program.
The Reach Cambridge is a summer school aimed at high school students with classes at the University of Cambridge, organized by a private independent institution.
The initiative began in 2005 with the goal of preparing young people aged 15 to 17 for the university environment. Since then, the program has taken place every year, offering courses lasting two, four, or six weeks on various topics.
Those Interested in Studying at the University of Cambridge Must Write an Essay
To apply, interested candidates must write an essay on one of the following topics:
- In a rapidly changing world, what role can young people play in shaping the future and what actions can they take to address the most urgent global challenges?;
- In a world full of constant information and digital distractions, how can young people cultivate critical thinking skills and media literacy to navigate today’s complex information landscape?;
- Can absolute freedom exist without limits? Discuss the philosophical implications of the balance between personal freedom and social responsibility, drawing on historical, ethical, and contemporary perspectives;
- How has technology transformed the way we communicate and connect with others? (Tip: discuss the positive and negative implications of this transformation);
- What should be the main goal of education: to prepare students for jobs, encourage critical thinking and creativity, or develop good citizens? (Tip: discuss how schools can balance these goals and why it is important);
The Text must be written in English and should have a maximum of 750 words. The student also needs to submit a recommendation letter from a teacher and fill in basic information about the school they attend, as well as their grade history.

Students selected for the second phase of the process will be notified in early December. In this second phase, students will be interviewed online. The selection process for the summer course at Cambridge is conducted through the program’s website, and applications are open until November 18. Among the summer courses offered at the university are topics ranging from literature to STEM fields.
