Ifes Opens Over 4,6 Thousand Spots for Free Technical Courses. Enrollment Is Now Open for In-Person and Distance Learning Courses at 21 Campuses in Espírito Santo
The Federal Institute of Espírito Santo (Ifes) is offering 4,636 spots in free technical courses, with classes scheduled to start in the first semester of 2026. The opportunities include integrated, concurrent, subsequent modalities, and also youth and adult education (Proeja), distributed among 21 campuses throughout the state and two distance learning options.
Enrollment varies by modality. In Proeja, there is no enrollment fee and the deadline is until October 24. For other options, the amounts are R$ 85 for integrated technical courses and R$ 65 for concurrent and subsequent courses, with a deadline until September 10. There is the possibility of fee exemption for those who apply between August 4 and September 2, directly on the Ifes website.
Modalities and Who Can Participate
Ifes offers four modalities of free technical courses:

Sebrae will pay R$ 6,500 to those who take this course and work with rural innovation: there are 834 open positions, scholarships of up to R$ 6,500, and contracts of up to 12 months in various cities.
- Integrated Technical Courses – aimed at those who have completed elementary school and wish to complete high school along with technical training.
- Concurrent Technical Courses – intended for students currently in the 2nd or 3rd year of high school at another school who can study the technical course at Ifes simultaneously.
- Subsequent Technical Courses – for those who have already completed high school and are only seeking technical training.
- Proeja – aimed at individuals over 18 years old who have not completed high school.
Each modality has specific enrollment requirements and documentation. The full notice is available on the Ifes portal, with the list of courses, deadlines, and detailed guidelines.
How Selection Will Be Conducted
The selection process varies by modality. For integrated technical courses, there will be an objective test scheduled for October 19. Concurrent and subsequent courses will have selection based on the analysis of school transcripts, while in Proeja, classification will be done by lottery.
According to Ifes, the diversity of entry methods aims to meet audiences with different profiles and needs, expanding access to technical and vocational education in Espírito Santo.
Where the Spots Are
The opportunities are distributed across campuses located in various cities in Espírito Santo, including Vitória, Serra, Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, Linhares, São Mateus, Colatina, Aracruz, Guarapari, and Santa Maria de Jetibá. There are also courses available in the EAD modality, allowing students from other regions to participate.
Many of these programs are aimed at strategic sectors of the state economy, such as industry, technology, agriculture, and services, areas that show high demand for qualified professionals.
