Ethanol prices reached R$ 4.04 per liter in the national average from September 6 to 12, with a weekly increase of 2.28%, while 14 states and the Federal District saw rising prices, and São Paulo recorded an average of R$ 3.76.

The weekly survey from the National Agency of Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels compiles observed prices at gas stations. The report for the week was released on September 14.

The spreadsheet details 3,643 gas stations surveyed for ethanol in Brazil. This data set forms the national statistical reference without mandating what each establishment should charge for the fuel.

Interpreting the values requires considering the collection period, region, and type of fuel. Thus, a national average does not replace the price found at a driver’s local station.

The R$ 4.04 per liter is an average of surveyed prices

The weekly spreadsheet from the ANP reports R$ 4.04 per liter for hydrated ethanol in the country. This value synthesizes the survey, not a mandatory sales table.

Therefore, finding a station charging more or less does not mean the data is incorrect. The study summarizes prices from various establishments and locations.

It also does not constitute an announcement of an adjustment from Petrobras. The survey tracks retail prices; it does not automatically identify which company or stage caused each variation.

The 2.28% weekly increase was not uniform across the country

An analysis from AE-Taxas published by Eixos shows a 2.28% increase in the national average in the weekly comparison. This result indicates an uptick in the average price surveyed during the period.

However, a positive national variation can encompass regions with differing behaviors. Some markets may record price drops, stability, or increases greater than that reflected in the national figure.

This discrepancy is significant for those who fuel up consistently in the same city. The local experience can diverge from the average without invalidating the trend observed in the overall survey.

Fourteen states and the Federal District saw increases while eight states decreased

According to the state results analysis, there were increases in 14 states and the Federal District, price drops in eight states, and stability in three others.

Amapá was not quoted in the presented data. The absence of a researched price should not be interpreted as free fuel, stable prices, or a widespread lack of product.

The distribution demonstrates that upward pressure was predominant among the units with information. Still, the movement was not a simultaneous increase across all states.

São Paulo’s Price Remained at R$ 3.76 per Liter the Same Week

In the state table, São Paulo’s average was R$ 3.76 per liter, below the national reference. Both figures come from the same reporting period of Brazil’s National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).

The arithmetic difference is R$ 0.28 per liter. This compares averages from different scopes without indicating that any driver will specifically experience that savings on their journey.

For refueling decisions, the price from a nearby retailer remains more specific. The statewide average helps situate the market but does not constitute a commercial offer.

Publication Date Differs from the Days Prices Were Collected

The analyzed collection spans from September 6 to 12. The release on September 14 presents the results from that already concluded week, not prices measured solely on that day.

This lag must accompany the interpretation of any periodic survey. Prices found after the collection may change without the previous spreadsheet failing to reflect its period.

Thus, the data is useful as a market reference and for temporal comparison. To know the cost of an immediate purchase, it’s necessary to confirm the current condition at the establishment.

A Hypothetical Purchase of 40 Liters Demonstrates the Magnitude of the Difference

Using the national average merely as an example, 40 liters at R$ 4.04 would cost R$ 161.60. The calculation multiplies quantity and price, without representing an actual purchase observed in the survey.

With the São Paulo average of R$ 3.76, the same 40 liters would total R$ 150.40. The hypothetical difference would be R$ 11.20 between these two statistical references.

The example does not assume that consumers can choose between averages. It illustrates how cents per liter accumulate when applied to a larger amount of fuel.

Comparison with Gasoline Must Consider the Vehicle’s Own Fuel Consumption

The price per liter is only part of the equation in a flex-fuel vehicle. Fuel consumption with each type determines how many kilometers can be traveled per refuel.

A simple comparison divides the price per liter by the efficiency in kilometers per liter. The result is the fuel cost per kilometer for that usage condition.

This calculation prevents treating a fixed price ratio as a universal rule. Efficiency can vary between vehicles and routes, making measured experience important.

The ethanol assessment alone does not provide gasoline prices for each gas station or the consumption of each vehicle. Therefore, it does not support an automatic advantage for all drivers.

Comparisons of fuel consumption between car models illustrate why efficiency must factor into the decision: similar prices do not guarantee equivalent fuel expenses per kilometer.

Prices from different locations should not be mixed as if they were a single offer

Comparing the average of one state with the lowest price seen in another creates differing benchmarks. One summarizes a market; the other describes a specific observation.

Similarly, a snapshot of a pump used for illustration may show outdated prices. The valid price for this update is the one associated with the week of 6 to 12.

Being careful with dates and scope helps interpret the information without exaggerating the potential savings. The fueling decision relies on prices that are genuinely affordable to consumers.

The next assessment will show if the increase continues or loses momentum

A week of rising prices does not, by itself, define the trajectory for the ensuing months. To identify continuity, it is essential to compare new findings with equivalent periods and criteria.

The current result combines a national increase, state differences, and a São Paulo average lower than the national. These three elements describe the surveyed market without attributing a single cause to the trend.

For drivers, the information provides context for checking local prices. The amount actually paid remains the one announced and confirmed at the chosen resale point at the time of refueling.
