Electric Motorcycle Manufacturer Receives R$ 100 Million Investment
According to Voltz’s CEO, Renato Villar, the company proudly announces that it is bringing its electric motorcycle technologies to Salvador, Bahia. The executive also emphasizes that the opening of the store represents an important achievement for everyone in the company, and the goal is for more and more Brazilians to use electric vehicles, with Bahia being a central piece for the country.
In May of this year, the electric motorcycle company received an investment of R$ 100 million. The funding round was led by Creditas and also included participation from UVC Investimentos, a Venture Capital fund of the Ultra Group, a multi-business company responsible for brands such as Ultragaz, Extrafarma, Ipiranga, and several others.
In addition to boosting the opening of various units across the country, Voltz also intends, with this investment, to start operating the first electric motorcycle factory in Manaus, specifically in the Free Trade Zone, later this year. The company’s goal with the factory is to launch connectivity projects and new models to enhance mobility with electric motorcycles in Brazil.
Meet the Brazilian Electric Motorcycle Startup
Voltz is a Brazilian electric motorcycle startup founded in Recife, with its first physical store opened in 2019 and already selling over 210 vehicles nationwide.
According to Renato, the company’s goal is to sell 12,000 motorcycles and achieve revenue of R$ 118 million. The startup was created in 2017 to provide a clean, sustainable, and motorized alternative for those looking to move around cities. Although the company imports vehicles from China, one of its main challenges has been to work with portable lithium batteries.
Renato states that in the Chinese market, scooters using lead-acid batteries are more prevalent and need to be charged at home, which would not fit the Brazilian context due to its infrastructure and product quality.
