Withdrawn from Brazil Last Year, the Nissan Sentra, Competitor of the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic, is Coming Back to the Brazilian Market with a “Card Up Its Sleeve”: A Hybrid Engine
The Nissan Sentra stopped being sold in Brazil in 2020, leaving some consumers without options. The model is a medium sedan of excellent quality but failed to keep up with the leaders in this segment in Brazil: the Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla. However, Nissan made the strategic withdrawal of the vehicle so that it could return in the future as a more competitive product aligned with sustainability. Therefore, the Sentra ePower was brought back, the version with a hybrid engine that may hit the Brazilian automotive market next year.

Competitor of the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic Will Have Surprising Autonomy
The new version of the Nissan Sentra was unveiled in China at the Tianjin Auto Show, under the name Dongfeng Nissan Sylphy e-Power. The competitor of the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic features a 1.2 hybrid engine with 72hp and another electric engine with 136hp, giving the sedan excellent fuel efficiency and performance among the best in its category, averaging over 20 km/l, a figure even better than that of the Toyota Prius, for example.
Its arrival in the Brazilian market, however, would follow a timeline. Mexico is likely to be the country where the manufacturer will debut the hybrid engine in Latin America, and its arrival here may not be exactly with the Nissan Sentra, as the Nissan Kicks SUV is the most asked for electrification in the Brazilian market.

With the Return of the Nissan Sentra, Manufacturer Could Stand Out Among Competitors
Nissan is one of the main players in the automotive market in terms of electrification. The brand already has an electric car sold in Brazil, the Leaf, which for a long time was considered the best-selling model in the world in the sector.
With the arrival of two models with hybrid engines, namely the Nissan Sentra and the Kicks, the company could stand out again among other existing manufacturers in Brazil. It is worth noting that the Toyota Corolla is already being developed to receive a hybrid engine, while Honda has not yet made any announcements regarding the Honda Civic in the Brazilian market.
Specifications of the Nissan Sentra
In terms of mechanics, the old combustion Sentra had a 2.0 engine that provided the vehicle with a power of 140 horsepower, a torque of 20 kgfm, and a top speed of 186 km/h.
