Dajin Offshore and Guangzhou Wenchong Sign Reservation Agreements for 1.1 GW Scottish Offshore Wind Farm, Including XXL Monopiles and Next-Generation Turbines in the North Sea.
ESB and Red Rock Power have signed agreements with Chinese manufacturers to supply XXL monopile foundations for the 1,100 MW Inch Cape wind farm, located in eastern Scotland. The ESB and Red Rock joint venture, Inch Cape Offshore Limited (ICOL), is tasked with developing the 72-turbine wind farm. Manufacturing of the monopiles is scheduled to begin in late 2024, with delivery to the project expected by the end of 2025. The agreements ensure the supply, manufacture, and delivery of the monopile foundations for the ongoing wind farm construction.
These agreements reinforce ICOL’s partnership with Chinese producers, who will supply the XXL monopile foundations for the Inch Cape wind farm. The Chinese industry has played a vital role in producing foundations for wind farms globally, with companies in China excelling in manufacturing structures for the latest generation of offshore wind turbines. Each Inch Cape monopile will have a maximum outer diameter of 11.5 meters, a maximum length of 110 meters, and a weight of up to 2,700 tons. The partnership with Chinese manufacturers represents a significant step forward for the offshore wind project in the North Sea, off the east coast of Scotland.
