Open Enrollment for Free Specializations at IFMA in Distance Education Mode, with In-Person Poles in Maranhão, Spots Distributed in Five Cities, Meetings on Weekends and Training Focused on Environmental and Educational Technology Areas.
The Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Maranhão has opened enrollment to fill 450 spots in two free specialization courses in distance education mode, with in-person support at poles in the interior of the state.
The selection, conducted by the Itapecuru Mirim Campus, includes the lato sensu graduate programs in Environmental Education and Information Technology in Education, with classes scheduled to start in 2026 and in-person meetings preferably on Saturdays and Sundays.
According to the official notice of the selection process, enrollment remains open from December 15, 2025, to January 19, 2026.

Available Spots and In-Person Poles in Maranhão
The specialization in Environmental Education offers 250 spots, with 50 opportunities at each of the five in-person support poles.
The included poles are Anajatuba, Itapecuru Mirim, Pirapemas, Rosário, and Santa Rita.
The graduate program in Information Technology in Education has a total of 200 spots, also with 50 per pole.
In this course, the spots are distributed among Anajatuba, Itapecuru Mirim, Pirapemas, and Santa Rita.
In the official document, IFMA informs that part of the spots is reserved for affirmative actions and legal quotas.
There are provisions for percentages for people with disabilities, indigenous candidates, and self-declared black and brown candidates, in addition to the spots for general competition.

The institution notes that in-person attendance is mandatory because these moments include evaluations required by distance education legislation.

The specialization in Environmental Education is expected to last 18 months.
This period already includes the time allocated for preparing and presenting the Thesis.
The graduate program in Information Technology in Education is planned for 20 months.
Like in the other course, the schedule includes time reserved for the Thesis.
To obtain the specialist certificate, IFMA indicates that the student will need to successfully complete all subjects.
The successful completion and defense of the Thesis will also be required.
The document emphasizes that, after enrollment, the student will have the rights and privileges of a regular student at the institution.
Selection Timeline and Scheduled Dates
The schedule published in the notice foresees the announcement of the results of the approved applications on January 23, 2026.
Following that, there are expected verification steps for candidates opting for reserved spots with self-declaration.
The notice also sets deadlines for filing appeals.
The final selection results are expected to be announced on February 18, 2026.
The call for enrollment is expected to occur on February 19, 2026.
The enrollment period is scheduled from February 20 to 28, 2026.
The inaugural class is scheduled for March 2, 2026.
