The Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology Farroupilha (IFFar) has opened a notice for 860 places in free technical courses, available both in-person and online (distance learning), for the start in the first semester of 2026.
Registrations are open until October 16, 2025, exclusively via the internet.
The electronic draw, which will determine the candidates, will be held on November 17, 2025, with live transmission on the IFFar YouTube channel. This measure aims to broaden access to professional qualification in Rio Grande do Sul.

About the Federal Institute
The Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology Farroupilha (IF Farroupilha) was created by Law No. 11,892, of December 29, 2008, through the integration of the Federal Center for Technological Education of São Vicente do Sul, its Decentralized Unit of Júlio de Castilhos, the Federal Agrotechnical School of Alegrete, along with the incorporation of the Decentralized Teaching Unit of Santo Augusto, previously linked to the Federal Center for Technological Education of Bento Gonçalves.
With a legal nature of autarchy, IF Farroupilha has administrative, patrimonial, financial, pedagogical, and disciplinary autonomy, which ensures greater flexibility and efficiency in its actions.
According to the law of its creation, it is an institution of higher, basic, and professional education, of a pluricurricular and multicampus nature, focusing on the offer of professional and technological education in its different modalities.
Equated to universities, the Federal Institutes play the role of accrediting and certifying institutions of professional competencies, in addition to enjoying university autonomy.
Currently, IF Farroupilha is organized as follows:
- Rectory – located in Santa Maria;
- Campuses – Alegrete, Frederico Westphalen, Jaguari, Júlio de Castilhos, Panambi, Santa Rosa, Santo Ângelo, Santo Augusto, São Borja, São Vicente do Sul, and Uruguaiana;
- Distance Learning Centers;
- Centers of Reference.
