Want to Work in Construction? New SENAI Program Aims to Offer Free Training to Qualify the Workforce in the Sector.

The construction sector is experiencing a promising moment in Brazil — and the demand for skilled labor has never been more urgent. With this in mind, SENAI and CBIC (Brazilian Chamber of the Construction Industry) launched the National Training Plan for Construction 2025.

The objective? To train workers directly on construction sites and expand opportunities in the sector. The announcement was made on Friday, the 11th, during the 100th International Construction Industry Meeting (ENIC) in São Paulo.

Sector with High Demand and Good Salaries

According to the SENAI Industrial Job Map, Brazil will need to fill more than 4.4 million positions in construction by 2027.

The sector has the second-highest projected job growth, second only to logistics and transportation.

Another attractive factor is the salary. According to the New Caged, the average salary for admissions in construction in February 2025 was R$ 2,362.32 — about R$ 800 more than the current minimum wage (R$ 1,518).

Practical and Accessible Workforce Qualification with SENAI

The major innovation of the National Training Plan lies in its format: the free qualification of the workforce will be conducted on-site, facilitating access to education and optimizing workers’ time.

The content will be delivered using a hybrid methodology, combining video lessons, digital books, and supervised practical activities.

At the end of the course, participants receive a recognized professional certificate based on the Brazilian Classification of Occupations (CBO).

Courses Offered in the “Learning to Build” Program

The available courses include:

  • Reinforcing Steel Installer;
  • Construction Carpenter;
  • Masonry Worker;
  • Finishing and Coating Mason.

With a duration of two hours per day, for three months, the courses are specially aimed at low-income individuals, focusing on rapid insertion into the job market.

Construction companies will participate by providing space and hiring the trained workers.

Women in the Workforce: They Build

One of the program’s most important initiatives is the “They Build” focus, created to encourage female participation in construction.

This initiative maps job openings, offers specific courses for women, and promotes partnerships with companies to ensure the inclusion of female professionals in the market.

How to Participate in the National Training Plan?

Companies interested in joining the program should contact the CBIC directly.

After assessing the needs, the regional departments of SENAI will train the multipliers and form the classes.

SENAI: A National Reference in Professional Training

The National Service for Industrial Training (SENAI) is one of the largest professional education institutions in the world. Since 1942, it has trained more than 92 million professionals across Brazil.

With over 3.1 million enrollments per year and 1,024 units spread throughout the country, SENAI is a key player in strengthening the Brazilian industry and training a qualified workforce.

Why Invest in Training in Construction?

In addition to improving the quality of the workforce, the program helps to:

  • Increase productivity on construction sites;
  • Reduce costs associated with rework and delays;
  • Add value to professionals with recognized certifications;
  • Boost the growth of the sector, which is expected to grow 2.3% in 2025, above the national GDP.

With the National Training Plan, SENAI and CBIC demonstrate that it is possible to transform the construction site into a true center of learning.

The proposal reinforces the commitment to the future of construction, investing in practical and accessible qualifications to meet the growing demand for skilled labor in Brazil.

If you are a business owner or worker in the sector, now is the time to get involved. The future of construction is being built — with training, inclusion, and opportunity.
