Federal Institute of Northern Minas Gerais offers 445 spots in free technical courses with open registrations and selection without exams.

The Federal Institute of Northern Minas Gerais announced the opening of 445 spots in courses for free technical courses for the second semester of 2026. The selection process will be conducted without exams, with registrations from April 13 to May 7, exclusively online. The selection will be based on previous school performance, which increases access and reduces barriers for new students.

The opportunities are distributed among five cities in Minas Gerais: Januária, Montes Claros, Ibiaí, Lassance, and Várzea da Palma. The initiative aims to democratize technical education and expand professional qualification in strategic regions of the state.

How does the selection process of the Federal Institute work?

Unlike traditional selections, the Federal Institute opted for a simplified model. There will be no exams, and the classification of candidates will be based on grades obtained in elementary or high school subjects.

Additionally, there is a registration fee of R$ 10. According to the announcement, classes are scheduled to start in the second semester of 2026, allowing time for the organization of approved candidates.

Another important point is the inclusion policy. Part of the spots is reserved for students from public schools, people with disabilities, and self-declared black, brown, indigenous, and quilombola candidates.

Who can apply for the spots at the Federal Institute?

To participate in the selection process of the Federal Institute, it is necessary to meet some basic criteria. In general, the courses are aimed at those who are currently enrolled in or have completed high school.

Additionally, some programs specifically require the completion of high school, while others allow simultaneous enrollment (concurrent). Therefore, it is essential to check the requirements of each course before applying.

Structure of the Federal Institute of Northern Minas Gerais (IFNMG)

The Federal Institute of Northern Minas Gerais was created in 2008 and currently has a wide network of education. The institution has 12 campuses, reference centers, and dozens of distance education hubs.

Its area of operation covers about 42% of the territory of Minas Gerais, serving more than 3 million inhabitants. This demonstrates the direct impact of the spots and free technical courses on professional training and regional development.

Why are free technical courses a unique opportunity?

The free technical courses offered by the Federal Institute represent a gateway to the job market. This is because areas such as Occupational Safety, Information Technology, and Agriculture are among the most in-demand.

Furthermore, the absence of exams in the selection process makes access more democratic. Thus, students who have not had specific preparation for exams can compete based on their academic history.

Meanwhile, the distance learning modality expands the reach of the spots, allowing more people to participate without the need for daily commuting.

Registrations

Registrations for the spots at the Federal Institute must be made online within the stipulated period. It is essential to fill in the data correctly and attach the required documentation.
