Fiat Strada, Onix, Corolla, and T-Cross Lead Sales in the Brazilian Automotive Industry. Discover the Current Ranking and the Number of Registrations for Each Model.

The Volkswagen Polo continues to lead the ranking of the best-selling cars in Brazil. For the second consecutive month, the hatchback surpassed the medium pickup Fiat Strada and sold 12,434 units throughout April. According to numbers from Fenabrave, the association that gathers automotive dealership companies, the pickup manufactured in Betim (MG) sold almost 1,000 units fewer during the period, with 11,497 registrations. However, Fiat Strada, Onix, Corolla, and T-Cross remain as leaders in the ranking.

Closing the podium is the Chevrolet Onix, which had 9,087 registrations. Until the fourth place, initially, where the Fiat Argo (8,599 units) appears, the ranking nearly repeats March’s results. The fifth position is now occupied by the Hyundai HB20, which registered 8,194 units, thus taking the position from the Volkswagen T-Cross, which remains the best-selling SUV in the market. However, it has dropped to seventh place in the overall ranking.

From eighth to tenth place in the list, as in March, are the Chevrolet Tracker (5,670), Fiat Mobi (5,420), and Volkswagen Saveiro (5,373). According to Fenabrave, the registrations of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, led by Fiat Strada, Onix, Corolla, and T-Cross, recorded an increase of 18.2% over March.

According to the organization, the good performance of retail sales adds to this. From March to April, the daily average increased by 7.5%, surpassing 9,400 units.

Complete List of Best-Selling Cars

In the last month, 6,705 fully electric vehicles and light commercial vehicles were registered. The best-selling among them was again the BYD Dolphin Mini, with 3,143 units. This means the battery-powered compact sold more than the renowned Toyota Corolla (3,104).

Also discussing electric vehicles, in the four-month period (January to April), total registrations reached 20,832. Despite the huge percentages, which result from a low comparative base, the growth of electric vehicles in the Brazilian automotive industry tends to be more gradual but is gradually strengthening, especially in large urban centers, according to Fenabrave’s president, Andreta Jr.

The list of the 10 best-selling cars in Brazil, where Fiat Strada, Onix, Corolla, and T-Cross lead, is as follows:

  • 1- Volkswagen Polo: 12,434;
  • 2- Fiat Strada: 11,497;
  • 3- Chevrolet Onix: 9,087;

  • 6- Chevrolet Onix Plus: 7,049;
  • 7- Volkswagen T-Cross: 6,224;
  • 8- Chevrolet Tracker: 5,670;
  • 9- Fiat Mobi: 5,420;
  • 10- Volkswagen Saveiro: 5,373.

What Are the Best-Selling Cars Among New Releases?

Among the new releases, the one that performed the best was the Chevrolet Spin facelift. The model already has a loyal customer base and good improvements, ensuring an increase in sales that kept it as the best-selling seven-seater vehicle in the country.

The Renault Kardian has not yet grown enough to trouble rivals Fiat Pulse and VW Nivus, but it already represents an increase compared to what was previously seen with the Sandero and Logan. Its sibling Duster, updated in January, is also experiencing growth in sales.

However, the standout in the beginning of 2024 has been the Caoa Chery Tiggo 7. Since the launch of the Sport version for R$ 134,990, the medium SUV has been climbing in the ranking of the best-selling cars—enough to surpass its cheaper sibling Tiggo 5X.
