Financing a SPIN is an alternative sought by many families who need space without compromising their budget all at once. The Chevrolet minivan is known for its size and versatility, but the high cost requires planning. When opting for installments, understanding how simulations work can avoid surprises in the total amount paid. The down payment, the term, and the interest make all the difference in the buyer’s pocket.

The financing of a SPIN for R$ 70,000.00 may seem like a good solution for those who need a car with space, but do not have the entire amount upfront.

With a low down payment and a long term, the interest ends up weighing heavily. Next, see how the complete simulation looks and the impact of changing the down payment amount. Simulation done by the channel Pipoco Investidor.

Simulation with a Down Payment of R$ 10,000

In the example used, the value of the SPIN is R$ 70,000.00.

The simulated down payment is only R$ 10,000.00, which means the client will finance R$ 60,000.00 over a term of 48 months, or 4 years.

The interest rate used is 1.8% per month — a common rate at some financial institutions, but it can vary according to the client’s credit score.

The installments in this scenario are fixed, at R$ 1,877.36. At the end of the financing, the total amount paid will be R$ 100,113.24.

This represents R$ 30,113.24 solely in interest. In percentage terms, the increase corresponds to 30% of the total amount disbursed.

Why Are Interest Rates So High

The main reason for the high interest rates is that the down payment is considered low.

When the bank or financial institution assumes more risk — that is, finances most of the vehicle — the interest rate remains, and the total amount grows.

Financing R$ 60,000 over four years means paying more than R$ 30,000 just in interest.

This difference can weigh heavily on the budget and compromise the resale or trade-in value of the car in the future, as the total amount paid is significantly higher than the actual value of the asset.

Comparison with a Down Payment of R$ 35,000

To show the impact that a higher down payment can generate, the simulation was redone with a down payment of R$ 35,000.00 — exactly half of the car’s value.

As a result, the financed amount drops to R$ 35,000.00. The same 1.8% rate and the same term of 48 months were maintained.

In this new scenario, the installment amounts to R$ 1,095.00. The total amount paid at the end will be R$ 52,566.00. This means that interest totals R$ 17,566.00 — a drop of more than R$ 12,000 compared to the first simulation.

In percentage terms, the cost of interest represents 20% of the total amount paid. This is 10 percentage points less than the simulation with a down payment of R$ 10,000.00. The impact is direct on both the installments and the final amount.

Summary of the Simulation

Car Value Down Payment Term Monthly Interest Installment Total Paid Total Interest % in Interest
R$ 70,000.00 R$ 10,000 48 months 1.8% R$ 1,877.36 R$ 100,113.24 R$ 30,113.24 30%
R$ 70,000.00 R$ 35,000 48 months 1.8% R$ 1,095.00 R$ 52,566.00 R$ 17,566.00 20%

Is It Worth It to Wait to Save More?

Saving more money before financing can be one of the smartest decisions for those looking to reduce the final cost.

The simulation of the financing of a SPIN clearly shows that increasing the down payment considerably decreases the amount of the installments and also the total amount paid at the end of the contract.

Even if the difference may seem small at first, over four years, the amounts accumulate and can represent savings of more than R$ 12,000. Therefore, before signing the contract, it is worth simulating different scenarios.

The rate used in the simulation of financing a SPIN was 1.8% per month, but this rate varies according to your score, profile, and financial institution.

It is advisable to visit dealerships or do online simulations to find the best conditions. Financing in a rush can end up being more expensive than it seems.

It is important to note that the values presented throughout the article are part of a simulation based only on a hypothetical scenario. Real financing conditions, such as interest rates, installment amounts, and credit approval, vary according to each consumer’s profile and the policies of financial institutions. To obtain accurate and personalized results, it is best to consult banks, financial institutions, or authorized dealerships directly.

Se o valor financiado é 60.000,00 e no final do financiamento 100.113,00. Os juros são de 40.113,00 e não os 30.113,00 descritos na edição. Matemática básica.

Pois é, se vc não der os 10 mil de entrada
O valor é 70 mil menos 10 mil de entrada fica 60 mil financiado
