In GE's contract with Rio Energy, in Bahia, in addition to supplying the turbines, an operation and maintenance service package is included, valid for 10 years for all the equipment that GE supplied to the complex.
GE wind turbines
With a height of 126 meters and a rotor of 158 meters, the first turbines installed by GE can operate with a power of 4.8 MW to 5.1 MW. According to the Sales Director for GE's Wind division in Brazil, Mauricio Vieira, this is a milestone for the company and also for the area of wind energy in Brazil. The company has been investing in this sector for over 10 years and, according to him, this is the perfect opportunity to generate more clean and renewable energy through wind turbines in Bahia.

Turbines allow for significant improvements in annual energy production and are more efficient when it comes to maintenance. The executive also states that the turbine was developed to take advantage of wind conditions, significantly reducing costs and increasing the capacity to serve customers.
GE's objective in the Brazilian market
In addition to proposing a new technology to the Brazilian market, such as that used in Bahia, GE's commitment to local production is also a major highlight. About 60% of the components produced in Brazil, with approximately 20 suppliers in 5 states, were developed by GE to make Cypress manufacturing in Brazil a reality. The wind turbines are assembled at the GE factory in Camaçari, Bahia.
The company intends to continue investing in technologies, innovation and development for the wind energy market in Brazil, which intends to grow even more. Wind energy in Brazil recently reached 18 GW of installed capacity, according to data from the Brazilian Wind Energy Association. Of the 8.300 wind turbines installed, approximately 3 of them were installed by GE.
