Complete And Underrated Models Can Be True Bargains In The Used Market
Not every good car is popular on the streets. Some complete, powerful models full of features are overlooked by Brazilian consumers due to lack of marketing, brand prejudice, or simple ignorance. They are the so-called ghost cars: forgotten in dealerships, but they can be great buys for those looking for affordable and reliable cars.
In this survey, we gathered five examples of vehicles that deliver much more than they appear — and cost less than many basic hatches. All are models with a solid history, good performance, and current prices in the Fipe Table that position them as opportunities in the used market.
Mitsubishi ASX Outdoor 2016 – R$ 75.961
The ASX in the Outdoor version tried to give an adventurous touch to Mitsubishi’s SUV. With all-wheel drive, manual transmission, and a 2.0 engine with 160 hp, the model is sturdy, reliable, and easy to maintain. It has digital climate control, multimedia, and an exclusive look — but few people remember it exists. Nonetheless, it is one of the few affordable 4×4 options in the market.
-
It surpassed the T-Cross, Creta, and Tracker: with nearly 8,000 units sold, the Volkswagen Tera was the best-selling SUV in March 2026.
-
Honda performs miracles in fuel consumption with a hatch that marks 13.2 km/l in the city and 15 km/l on the highway, leaving Polo, HB20, 208, and Onix behind and becoming a reference among compact cars without resorting to turbo or hybrid systems.
-
Six diseases that seem common but can prevent the renewal of the driver’s license for the elderly throughout Brazil and surprise experienced drivers — could any of them affect you without showing clear signs?
-
With 122 hp, fuel consumption of up to 17.7 km/l, and a trunk capacity of 440 liters, this hybrid SUV impresses even though it costs up to R$ 47,000 more than the Yaris — meet the Toyota Corolla Cross.
Nissan Altima SL 2014 – R$ 62.845
Nissan’s large sedan arrived in Brazil to compete with the Fusion and Accord, but had a short lifespan. Despite this, the Altima SL offers refined finishing, premium Bose sound, a sunroof, power heated seats, and a 2.5 engine with 182 hp paired with a CVT. Comfort, silence on board, and balanced fuel consumption make it a true find.
Chevrolet Equinox Premier 2019 – R$ 122.234
With a 2.0 turbo engine producing 262 hp, all-wheel drive, and a 9-speed automatic transmission, the Equinox Premier impresses. In addition to performance, it offers a generous list of features: Bose sound system, panoramic sunroof, power liftgate, and wireless charger. Still, the model remains one of the most underrated medium SUVs in the country.
Suzuki Swift Sport R 2015 – R$ 67.846
Small on the outside, sporty on the inside. The Swift Sport R is a compact hatch with a go-kart soul. It comes with a 1.6 engine producing 142 hp, six-speed manual transmission, ESP, sports seats, and an aggressive look. With excellent dynamic tuning, it is one of the most fun models to drive — but practically unknown in Brazil.
Peugeot 5008 Griffe 2019 – R$ 118.256
Seven seats, striking appearance, sophisticated interior, and a 1.6 THP turbo engine with 165 hp. The Peugeot 5008 features a digital dashboard, massaging seats, ambient lighting, and full connectivity. However, being overshadowed by the 3008, it sold little and remains invisible in the market. For those seeking space and refinement at a fair price, it offers a rare gem.
And for you, which of these cars deserved more recognition? Would you have the courage to bet on a model that almost no one buys? Have you ever owned one of them? Leave your opinion in the comments — we want to know who has discovered these “ghosts” and if it was worth it to invest in them.
