40 mm Truck-mounted Anti-aircraft Gun Strengthens Sweden’s Air Defense Against Drones, Missiles, Aircraft, and Armored Vehicles
The air defense of Sweden is set to soon receive the TRIDON Mk2 systems from BAE Systems, a 40 mm truck-mounted anti-aircraft gun developed to combat drones, cruise missiles, aircraft, and even armored vehicles with a range of up to 12 km.
Sweden Advances with New Anti-aircraft System
The London-based company is about to supply the anti-aircraft systems to Sweden. The TRIDON Mk2 is presented as a robust air defense solution to respond to rapidly changing threats in combat scenarios.
Mounted on a truck, the system uses a 40 mm anti-aircraft gun and was developed by BAE Systems.

During a military presentation with $67 million fighter jets each, two EA-18G Growlers collide in the sky in front of thousands of people in the United States, go into an uncontrolled spin, plummet in flames, and force four pilots to eject mid-flight during the biggest disaster at Gunfighter Skies in years.

Submarine cables have ceased to be just about the internet and have become a military asset: Australia connects nuclear submarine base to Google’s digital routes while the US, China, and allies compete for the ocean floor.
The proposal is to provide a rapid response against multiple targets, enhancing the protection of military forces as well as civilian structures.
Capability Against Various Threats
BAE Systems claims that the TRIDON Mk2 can engage a wide range of aerial threats, including drones, cruise missiles, and aircraft.
The company also reports that the system can engage ground threats, such as armored vehicles.
This profile expands the role of air defense on the battlefield. In addition to dealing with combat aircraft and missiles, the system is designed to counter unmanned systems used in aerial reconnaissance, fire control, and air attacks.
Anti-aircraft System Designed for Modern Warfare
Lena Gillström, president of BAE Systems Bofors, stated that the company is more committed than ever to providing protection against constantly evolving aerial threats.
She also mentioned that the TRIDON Mk2 was designed for modern warfare.
The executive added that the company will continue to offer cutting-edge solutions to position its customers better against future challenges.
In this context, air defense now requires fast, adaptable, and cost-effective systems.
Ukraine Has Already Received Systems of the Model
In February, the FMV acquired, on behalf of Sweden and Denmark, TRIDON Mk2 systems to donate to Ukraine.
The purchase was part of a package aimed at strengthening the country’s air defense capabilities amid the conflict.
According to a statement released by the company, the system features high precision, low cost, ease of deployment, and simple maintenance.
The modular design allows adaptation to changing needs and evolution with new technologies, with rapid performance against multiple threats.
Range and Accumulated Experience of the Super Gun
BAE Systems describes the TRIDON Mk2 as one of the most effective anti-aircraft systems in the industry.
The company claims that it surpasses any other 40 mm caliber gun or lower and results from nearly 90 years of accumulated experience since 1936.
With an effective range of up to 12 km against aerial and ground targets, the system varies according to target, ammunition, sensors, and terrain.
