Subaru Forester XT 2015 costs R$ 74,300, has 240 hp, AWD, a 505-liter trunk, and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds.

The 2015 Subaru Forester XT 2.0 Turbo costs R$ 74,308 according to the Fipe Table for September 2026 and features specifications that still impress: a 240 hp turbo boxer engine, 35.7 kgfm of torque, permanent all-wheel drive, CVT transmission with sport modes, a 505-liter trunk, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.5 seconds.

Interestingly, these numbers are packed into a 4.59-meter family SUV, seating five, with independent suspension on all four wheels, 225 mm of ground clearance, and the capacity to expand the cargo area to over 1,500 liters. In 2015, the Forester XT retailed for about R$ 134,900 to R$ 136,500; today, its reference price has dropped to a range typically dominated by much less powerful compact used cars.

The drop to around R$ 74,000 is the first figure that brings the Forester XT into off-the-radar territory. According to Webmotors, the Fipe price for September 2026 is R$ 74,308, while the national average of ad prices monitored by the platform sits at R$ 75,455.

The listed prices show considerable dispersion, ranging approximately from R$ 63,900 to R$ 84,999. This indicates that condition, mileage, maintenance history, and location can significantly affect the value of a specific unit.

For about R$ 74,000, the Subaru Forester XT boasts 240 hp, a 505-liter trunk, all-wheel drive, and goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds, outperforming many brand-new SUVs

The table also shows a significant decline throughout 2026. In January, the same 2015 Forester XT appeared at R$ 78,375 in Fipe; in February, R$ 78,004; in March, R$ 76,115. By September, it has reached the current R$ 74,308.

Boxer 2.0 turbo delivers 240 hp and 35.7 kgfm

The main reason the Forester XT stands apart from a conventional family SUV lies under the hood. The engine FA20 features four horizontally opposed cylinders, 1,998 cm³, a turbocharger, an intercooler, and direct fuel injection.

The maximum power output is 240 hp at 5,600 rpm, while the torque peaks at 35.7 kgfm. The block and cylinder head are made from aluminum, featuring four valves per cylinder, dual overhead camshafts, and variable timing for both intake and exhaust.

The boxer architecture positions the cylinders horizontally and opposite each other. This layout allows for a lower engine placement and helps reduce the center of gravity, a characteristic historically associated with Subaru vehicles.

It’s an uncommon configuration in the Brazilian used SUV market. Instead of a conventional naturally aspirated four-cylinder, buyers find a turbo boxer engine with direct injection and high specific power for a car manufactured over a decade ago.

From 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds with SUV body

The number that best represents the 240 hp is the acceleration. The Forester XT’s technical specifications record 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds, while the top speed reaches 221 km/h.

For a vehicle weighing approximately 1,502 kg, seating five, with a tall roof, family-sized trunk, and all-wheel drive, this is impressive performance. The power-to-weight ratio is close to 6.3 kg per horsepower.

This explains why the Forester XT can deliver numbers typically associated with more sport-focused cars without abandoning the SUV body style. The driver has space, headroom, and load capacity, yet simply demands the engine to access a level of acceleration far beyond what is found in naturally aspirated compact SUVs.

The difference lies in the combination of turbo, high torque, and all-wheel drive, which enables the transformation of power into acceleration with less waste due to loss of traction.

Permanent all-wheel drive is central to Subaru’s recipe

The Forester XT does not rely on a 4×4 system activated only when the driver encounters mud or poor road conditions. It uses the traditional Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, with power transmission to both axles during driving.

In the configuration analyzed by Autoentusiastas, the distribution typically operates around 60% for the front axle and 40% for the rear, with an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch capable of adjusting torque delivery according to traction conditions.

Costing around R$ 74 thousand, the Subaru Forester XT boasts 240 hp, a trunk of 505 liters, all-wheel drive, and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds, outperforming many brand-new SUVs

The system works in conjunction with electronic stability control and the brakes. When there is a difference in traction between the wheels, the electronics can intervene to keep the vehicle on its intended path and better utilize the available power.

It is precisely this architecture that sets the Forester apart from many SUVs that have an adventurous design but whose mechanics remain exclusively front-wheel drive.

X-Mode assists when the pavement ends

All-wheel drive is supplemented by X-Mode, a feature designed to coordinate the engine, transmission, AWD system, and electronic stability control on low-traction surfaces. Subaru describes X-Mode as an integrated system aimed at enhancing driving on rough and slippery surfaces.

In the Forester XT evaluated in Brazil, the system also assists on steep descents, automatically managing speed and braking without requiring the driver to maintain constant pressure on the pedals.

The ground clearance reaches approximately 225 mm, a high value for a vehicle that also accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds. The independent suspension and AWD system enhance the ability to tackle dirt, moderate mud, and uneven surfaces.

This does not turn the Forester into a jeep meant for extreme trails but creates a rare combination of on-road performance and off-road capability.

CVT Simulates up to Eight Gears in the Sportiest Mode

Another unconventional detail lies in the transmission. Instead of a traditional automatic with fixed gears, the Forester XT uses a Lineartronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission).

The electronic programming completely alters the driving experience when the driver selects sport modes. The SI-Drive system offers settings tailored to different responses, while the CVT can simulate six ratios in Sport mode and eight virtual gears in Sport Sharp.

Sport Sharp modifies the system’s response for more immediacy, making the behavior of the transmission closer to what is expected from a sporty automatic. There are also controls that allow the driver to select the simulated ratios.

This is an important solution because the 240 hp require a transmission that can handle both smooth driving and strong accelerations without compromising family versatility.

Cargo Space Delivers 505 Liters and Exceeds 1,500 Liters with Folded Seats

While the engine offers performance, the body retains an essentially practical vocation. The Forester XT provides 505 liters of trunk capacity with the seats in their normal configuration.

With the rear seats folded down, the reported space reaches approximately 1,541 liters. This positions the model in a category capable of transporting a family’s luggage, sports equipment, and much larger items without permanently sacrificing the five seating places.

The electric tailgate adds convenience, while the split rear bench enhances flexibility. The cabin was also praised at the time for its expansive glass area and efficient use of space.

The Forester measures 4,595 mm in length, 1,795 mm in width, and 1,735 mm in height, with a 2,640 mm wheelbase. These dimensions are relatively compact considering the available interior space.

60-Liter Tank Allows for Good Highway Range

The tank holds 60 liters of gasoline. Consumption figures vary depending on the methodology used, which is why different studies present distinct results for the Forester XT.

AutoPapo reports 9.2 km/l in the city and 12.8 km/l on the highway for the 2015 model. In this scenario, a purely mathematical multiplication of the 60 liters by the highway consumption would project approximately 768 km of theoretical range.

Costing around R$ 74,000, the Subaru Forester XT boasts 240 hp, 505 liters of trunk space, all-wheel drive, and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds, outperforming many brand-new SUVs

Other figures from a different methodology presented by Autoentusiastas indicate 8.9 km/l in urban use and up to 14.3 km/l on the highway. The difference highlights how testing cycles, speed, distance, and measurement criteria substantially alter the numbers.

In practice, weight, tire pressure, terrain, fuel, traffic, and pressure on the accelerator strongly influence the result, especially in a 240 hp turbo SUV.

Independent Suspension and Ventilated Discs on All Four Wheels Complete the Package

The front suspension uses an independent McPherson architecture, while the rear is also independent, with overlapping arms and a stabilizer bar. This configuration helps balance stability, comfort, and control in curves.

The Forester XT features ventilated disc brakes both in the front and rear, accompanied by ABS and electronic brake distribution. The wheels measure 18 inches and are fitted with 225/55 R18 tires.

The steering is electrically assisted with a minimum turning diameter of approximately 10.6 meters. This setup demonstrates that the Forester XT is not just a conventional SUV equipped with a powerful engine; the chassis, brakes, tires, and transmission are also designed to handle superior performance.

Sunroof, leather, and features reinforce its premium offering of the time

The Brazilian Forester XT also arrived with an extensive list of features for 2015 standards. Among the items included are leather-upholstered seats with electric adjustments, a sunroof, cruise control, onboard computer, rain sensor, twilight sensor, and a multimedia system.

The electric tailgate and spacious sunroof underscored the idea of a more sophisticated family SUV. The interior does not rely on the extravagant designs of European premium models, but focuses on functional equipment and a large area of visibility.

In terms of safety, front and side airbags, ABS brakes, electronic brake distribution, and electronic control associated with the traction system are featured.

This package helps explain the high original price. Autoentusiastas reported R$ 134,900 at the beginning of 2015, while AutoPapo listed R$ 136,500 for a brand-new model that year.

Buying a used Forester XT requires looking beyond the R$ 74,000 price tag

This is precisely where the low entry price needs to be examined carefully. A turbocharged, AWD, imported SUV over ten years old may cost R$ 74,000 to purchase, but it doesn’t necessarily have maintenance costs comparable to a similarly priced popular hatchback.

The oil change history needs to be rigorously inspected, especially since the FA20 uses turbochargers and direct injection. Irregular operation, noises, smoke, leaks, or abnormal oil loss should all be diagnosed before purchasing.

The CVT transmission also requires attention. Buyers should verify the history of the correct fluid, ensure it operates smoothly without jolts or noises, and confirm the absence of electronic alerts. In a high-performance vehicle, neglected maintenance from previous owners can lead to costly repairs.

The AWD system adds other components: driveshaft, differentials, joints, and electronic management elements. All four tires should also have compatible sizes and wear levels, as significant diameter differences between wheels can adversely affect all-wheel drive systems.

Independent suspension, bushings, shock absorbers, bearings, brakes, the sunroof, and electrical equipment complete an inspection that should be much more detailed than simply checking appearance and mileage.

Forester XT became a 240 hp SUV priced like an old compact

The unique feature of the 2015 Subaru Forester XT appears when its current price is compared alongside its technical specifications. For R$ 74,308 according to Fipe in September 2026, the buyer finds an SUV with 240 hp, 35.7 kgfm, permanent all-wheel drive, a turbo boxer engine, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds.

At the same time, it isn’t a cramped sports car. There are 505 liters of trunk space, seating for five, over 1,500 liters with the rear seats folded, a sunroof, and 225 mm of ground clearance.

The X-Mode system enhances its capability on difficult terrains, while the CVT with SI-Drive and up to eight simulated ratios in Sport Sharp mode allows for a radical change in the car’s response when the driver wants to explore its performance.

This combination is what makes the Forester XT a particularly under-the-radar used vehicle. It requires meticulous maintenance and should not be purchased solely based on its Fipe value, but it offers an increasingly rare combination: 240 hp turbo boxer engine, permanent AWD, family space, and sports-like acceleration for around R$ 74,000.
