Few cars manage to survive in the memory of Brazilians like the Ford EcoSport, which was once one of the most beloved SUVs in the country.
Although it left the Brazilian market in 2021 and the European market in 2023, the American manufacturer is ready to turn the page and reintroduce the model to the global stage.
According to information from international press, the EcoSport will return completely revamped with a launch scheduled for mid-2025, already as the 2026 line.

The new generation will be designed to compete in the increasingly competitive compact SUV segment, with Europe as its primary market.
In addition, the model promises to be Ford’s response to replace important vehicles that have already left the production line, such as Fiesta and Focus.
A Redesigned SUV For A Competitive Market
The new Ford EcoSport 2026 will bring not only a revamped aesthetic but also significant technological advancements.
Production will take place at the Almussafes plant in Valencia, Spain, and it will be the first model from the unit to feature the “multi-energy” proposal.
This means that the SUV will have electrified engine options and even a 100% electric version, adapting to the new demands of the European market.
In the European portfolio, the model will be positioned below the Ford Puma, directly targeting leadership against competitors like the Dacia Duster.
To make the model more attractive, Ford plans to offer the EcoSport at competitive prices. This strategy will be essential to overcome the recent decline in demand for fully electric vehicles on the continent.

Renewed Design And Cutting-Edge Technologies
Although Ford is keeping the design of the new generation under wraps, projections from the Spanish site Motor.es already suggest bold changes.
The images indicate that the EcoSport 2026 will feature stacked vertical three-piece LED lights, aligning with the brand’s most modern guidelines.
Moreover, the main headlights will also follow a vertical format, contributing to an imposing and futuristic look.
This transformation aims not only to modernize the model but also to highlight Ford’s visual identity in the compact SUV segment.
The EcoSport In Brazil: Returns As Imported?
In Brazil, the EcoSport was discontinued in 2021 after the closure of the Camaçari factory in Bahia.
During this period, the manufacturer tested a possible fourth generation using the Ka Sedan body.
However, the reintroduction of the model in the national market, if it happens, would have to occur exclusively through importation.
The possibility of a return to Brazil depends on how the EcoSport positions itself in the global market and Ford’s interest in exploring the segment here.
EcoSport: From Icon To A New Beginning
The Ford EcoSport was a success both in Europe and Brazil. In the European market, the model sold around 50,000 units per year in its previous generation.
Now, with the mission of filling the gap left by discontinued models like the Fiesta, the new generation has high expectations ahead.
Ford seems determined to use the EcoSport as a key element to increase its sales volumes in an increasingly challenging market.
It remains to be seen if the model will be able to balance competitive pricing, sustainability, and bold design to win back consumers.
A New Era For Compact SUVs?
With the return of the EcoSport scheduled for 2026, fans of the model can expect a redesigned SUV, adapted to the demands of a transforming global market.
But will this reinvention be enough to bring back the shine of one of Brazil’s most iconic SUVs?
