Ford Performance, to demonstrate the versatility of its electric engines, which can deliver 285 horsepower, equipped the F-100 Eluminator pickup with the first off-the-shelf electric engines.

Ford Performance Parts, a traditional distributor of accessories and parts for car customization in the United States, is also focusing on electrification. The brand launched its first off-the-shelf electric engines at the end of last year. The component was named Eluminator and, at the time of launch, Ford noted that the first batch sold out very quickly. Those interested in purchasing the new powertrains, which can be used for electrifying classic cars, pickups, and SUVs, priced at around US$ 3,900 at retail, must now join the waiting list.

To showcase the versatility of the new powertrains, where each can deliver a power of 285 horsepower and a torque of 44 kgfm, Ford developed the F-100 Eluminator pickup. The model is based on a 1978 F-100, equipped with all-wheel drive and two electric engines, totaling 486 horsepower and a torque of 88 kgfm, the same numbers delivered by a Mach-E GT Performance Edition, launched last year, which features electric engines similar to those of the pickup.

Externally, the retro F-100 Eluminator pickup features 19-inch aluminum wheels, a unique gray paint with copper accents, and high-performance tires 275/45R19.

The interior was designed by Ford to combine period pieces, such as manual window cranks and modern elements from the Mach-E, including a giant multimedia screen. The hood of the model with electric engines, instead of the common engine, has a spacious trunk.

Ford’s New Plans Include Battery Systems, Inverters, and Traction Controllers

Ford Performance’s plan with the new electric engines and the F-100 Eluminator pickup is to expand the portfolio of accessories and parts for electric car customization, including battery systems, inverters, and traction controllers, providing complete solutions for the sector.

The vehicle customization market generates about US$ 50 billion globally each year. According to Ford Performance’s global director, Mark Rushbrook, the fact is that the performance of electric cars is fun and, according to industry advancements in this sector, motorsport and the aftermarket are too.

Just as Ford is committed to leading the electric revolution in terms of product, Ford Performance also seeks to succeed in the high-performance and competition vehicle sector.

Ford Announces Arrival of Three New Electric Cars

Ford detailed the strategy that will lead the brand to sell only electric cars in Europe by 2030. The first step towards sustainability will be taken with the arrival of 3 new battery models and 4 new fully electric commercial vehicles. In its plan, the company aims to sell over 600,000 electric cars in Europe by 2026.

The first car to hit the market will be a medium 5-seater SUV, which will be developed at a factory that will serve as a true electrification hub in Europe and, due to US$ 2 billion in investments, will produce 1.2 million electric vehicles in the coming years.

In the same location, another electric crossover will also be developed in 2024, which will have a sportier profile. It is expected that, in this case, the foundation on which it will be built is the MEB platform, where the electric cars of the Volkswagen group are developed.
