In the meeting, Lorenzatto revealed that the conceptual project of SEAP has already been approved and the hiring of the FPSO for the area should begin still in 2021 by Petrobras.

According to the executive, the state-owned company intends to hire the FPSO for the deep water project in the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin under BOT regime, meaning the winning bidder will construct, operate for a certain period, and then transfer the platform’s operation to the company.

The First Long-Term Test Conducted in Ultra-Deep Water in the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin in the Northeast Region

Petrobras conducted the Long-Term Test (LTT) of Farfan in February of last year, located about 70 kilometers off the coast of Sergipe. The LTT aims to assess the reservoir’s behavior in production and the characteristics of its oil. The technical information collected during the testing phase supported defining the steps for the Sergipe Deep Waters – Module 1 (SEAP 1) project, of which Farfan is a part.

The LTT of Farfan is the first to be conducted in ultra-deep water in the Northeast, with the well located in approximately 2,500m of water, being the deepest that Petrobras has ever placed into production in Brazil. The tests in the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin were important to confirm the reservoir’s quality and define future production development projects.

During the Discovery Evaluation Plan (PAD), drilling and seismic activities were carried out that confirmed the presence of high-quality oil in the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin region.
