Monin Opens Its First Factory in Brazil in September 2025, in Itu (SP), with an Investment of R$ 400 Million and a Research and Development Center. Understand What Will Be Produced, the Impact on Jobs, and Why the Company Chose the Country.

The French multinational Monin, a global reference in aromatic solutions, syrups, and ingredients for beverages and gastronomy, confirmed the opening of its first production unit in Brazil, located in Itu, São Paulo’s interior. The project includes a R&D center within the industrial complex, reinforcing the strategy of developing flavors and solutions based on local market raw materials and preferences.

In addition to being the company’s first factory in the country, the company noted that the Brazilian plant will be integrated into the global brand network, supporting supply for cafés, bars, patisseries, and restaurants that already use the company’s line of syrups, purees, and sauces. Domestic manufacturing is expected to reduce lead times and logistical costs for Brazilian and South American customers.

The inauguration in September marks the final phase of a project originally announced in 2023, when the estimated investment was R$ 350 million, and the construction of the industrial park was detailed on a property in Itu. Since then, there have been updates to values and milestones ahead of the start of operations.

Inauguration of Monin’s Factory in Itu with an Investment of 400 Million and a R&D Center

The plant will begin operations in September 2025, with R$ 400 million invested in production structure and a research center that will operate at the same address. This technical hub is expected to accelerate the development of flavors, formulations, and testing with partners in the beverage and gastronomy ecosystem.

The choice of Itu is linked to logistics in the São Paulo interior, access to skilled labor, and proximity to consumer hubs in the Southeast. The municipality monitored the construction with technical visits and official acts throughout 2024, a stage that preceded the completion of the industrial complex.

For the market, the presence of local R&D is a competitive differential, as it allows for the adaptation of the portfolio and launches to the Brazilian palate and the trends of specialty coffees and mixology that have scaled up in the country in recent years. This movement is expected to reduce dependence on imports and currency volatility in price formation.

Why Brazil Was Chosen, Growth in Mixology, Coffee, and Gastronomy Drives Monin

When the project was announced, Monin already viewed Brazil as a strategic market in Latin America due to the growing consumption in cafés, bars, and restaurants and the maturity of the HoReCa sector. The factory in Itu has always been a hub to expand regional presence and meet demand more quickly.

Domestic production also aids in quality standardization and technical support for clients working with drink menus, specialty coffees, and pastry, reducing the time between development and arrival on shelves. The integrated R&D center facilitates application testing and co-creation with both chains and independents.

The expected practical effect is a shorter lead time, more stable supply chains, and prices less exposed to international freight, which can benefit both large chains and local businesses. In this context, the Brazilian plant reinforces the company’s positioning as a premium supplier of syrups, purees, and sauces.

Jobs in Itu and Regional Impact, Direct and Indirect Positions in the Industrial Operation

At the start of the project, the São Paulo government and the company estimated the creation of over 200 direct jobs and around 300 indirect jobs in the industrial operation, in addition to 450 to 500 positions during construction. These figures, released in 2023, serve as an initial reference and may vary as the factory undergoes ramp-up.

The Itu City Hall monitored the implementation milestones, with visits to the construction and the laying of the foundation stone in 2024, signaling the physical progress of the site and communication with the municipal administration regarding infrastructure and training issues.

With effective operations, the multiplier effect is expected to emerge in services related to logistics, maintenance, packaging suppliers, utilities, and engineering, as well as training for quality and R&D teams. For the region, the investment reinforces the vector of reindustrialization and productive chaining in the São Paulo interior.

What Monin Will Produce in Brazil, Syrups and Aromatic Solutions for Beverages and Culinary

The typical portfolio of Monin includes syrups, purees, and sauces used in coffees, cocktails, desserts, and cuisine, with dozens of flavors. Local manufacturing will allow greater availability of fast-moving items and seasonal launches, as well as standardization for chains operating in multiple cities.

For cafés, the syrups are used in iced coffees, flavored lattes, and signature drinks. In bars, the products add consistency to drink menus and mocktails. In pastry and cooking, the sauces and purees expand topping and filling possibilities, helping to balance sweetness, acidity, and aroma without losing stability.

By integrating production and R&D, the company can accelerate the tropicalization of flavors and adapt texture, solubility, and shelf life to the country’s climatic and logistical conditions. For the end consumer, the promise is of more variety in retail points, with freshness and standardization.
