The manufacturer claims that the oil used in the engine does not follow the specifications in the manual, which could compromise the integrity of the timing belt.
According to GM, it is not enough that the oil has the indicated viscosity and additives, as the vehicle owners claim.
The manufacturer emphasizes that the oil used must be from the brand recommended in the owner’s manual, as it contains an essential additive to protect the rubber of the belt and prevent the oil from attacking the material.
This explanation, however, has not been well received by the owners.
Many claim they use the oil indicated by GM, regarding both viscosity and additives.
In addition, they point out that the quality of the product should be sufficient to ensure the durability of the belt without the need for a specific oil from a manufacturer-defined brand.
