The Alunorte refinery will also be the first operational customer of the FSRU (Floating Storage and Regasification Unit) in Barcarena/PA that Golar Power plans to activate in the first half of 2022.
In a statement, Golar Power said, “The conclusion of final agreements with Norsk Hydro will therefore be an important step toward the start of investments, which are expected to occur in the next 4 to 6 months.”
At the beginning of the month, the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Infrastructure, published the bidding notice for the area located at the Port of Vila do Conde, Pará, where a thermal power plant (UTE) and a floating storage and regasification unit for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) will be constructed.
The implementation of the projects is expected to create 800 jobs related to the construction and electromechanical sectors. Additionally, around 60 workers with technical and higher education qualifications are estimated to be hired at peak operation.
