Federal Government Publishes Bidding Notice for Construction of Thermoelectric Plant and LNG Unit at the Port of Vila do Conde, Pará
On Tuesday (14), the Federal Government published the bidding notice for the area located at the Port of Vila do Conde, in the state of Pará, where a thermoelectric plant (UTE) and a floating storage and regasification unit for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) will be built.

According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, the installation of the thermoelectric plant is a long-standing strategic demand and will bring many benefits to Brazil and the local economy.

“The construction of this plant, besides being a strategic demand in the area of energy and supply, will also enable an economic upgrade in the region, attracting investments and enhancing our infrastructure assets. We are optimistic about this bidding,” said Tarcísio de Freitas, the Minister of Infrastructure.
The LNG unit will provide another energy alternative for the Port of Vila do Conde region and for other municipalities in Pará and nearby areas, such as the states of Amapá and Maranhão.
For the implementation, the opening of 800 jobs related to the civil construction and electromechanical fields is expected. Additionally, about 60 skilled and technical workers are estimated to be hired at the peak of operation.
The bidding for the area that will host the thermoelectric plant and LNG unit is scheduled for August 28, with investments expected to be around R$ 1.6 billion for the new projects.
In addition to these resources, an amount of R$ 149 million is also planned for investments in the works to be carried out by the winning company of the auction.
