Porto Murtinho, in Mato Grosso do Sul, may be a strategic point on the Oceanic Route and has been receiving various investments from the Government to have more participation in the export and import corridor.

Last Tuesday (06/21), a new contract for construction was published in the Official Gazette of the State. The State Government will make a multi-million investment for the duplication and paving of a stretch of BR-267, precisely at 1.3 km. This location where the works will be carried out refers to the entrance to the city of Porto Murtinho, located in Mato Grosso do Sul and bordering Paraguay. It is an area that is still being prepared but is already considered extremely important for the import and export corridor.

The Importance Behind the Government’s Multi-Million Investment for the Duplication of BR-267 in Mato Grosso do Sul

According to what is stated in the publication, the amount to be invested will be R$ 7.8 million, which will be used for the duplication of this BR, which may yield benefits in the future. The resources for initiating and completing such works will come from the State Government itself. Initially, the responsible company will have an estimated deadline of 6 months, that is, about 180 days for delivery.

For Governor Reinaldo Azambuja, “Porto Murtinho is at the peak of investments to prepare that region for the realization of the export and import corridor through the Bioceanic Route, in addition to strengthening and growing the ports. A city that will have extraordinary development in the coming years.”

In general, this investment will bring various benefits to the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, especially to the municipality of Porto Murtinho, which will be a strategic point on the Bioceanic Route. It aims to connect the state to South American countries, with the intention of, in the future, reducing the distance to the Pacific Ocean.

All of this has already been planned so that Porto Murtinho receives investments and becomes a route to other ports. After achieving these goals, the next target will be negotiations with Asian countries.

Porto Murtinho May Contribute Significantly to the Brazilian Port Sector After These Government Investments

So far, the city has received various investments, whether for infrastructure improvement, as well as in other sectors such as health, education, sanitation, sports, security, and housing.

From 2015 to 2022, the current State Government has already invested R$ 109 million in Porto Murtinho. Of this total, R$ 83 million have been allocated for infrastructure works. This further solidifies its goal of making the municipality a strategic and highly valued point on the Oceanic Route.

According to Nelson Cintra, the current mayor of the city, the State Government has been a great ally in making these works come to fruition and become a reality. This has helped Porto Murtinho gain visibility in the Brazilian port sector. “The Government has opened doors for Porto Murtinho, which has become a construction site. It is the best governor we have ever had, and Murtinho is now the beginning of Brazil,” Cintra states.

At this moment, we can only wait for the duplication and paving works to be completed, so that the municipality can start to grow significantly and contribute to Brazilian ports. Moreover, it will be a great ally when it comes to export or import routes, attracting more jobs and visibility to the city and its residents.
