Pilot Project with Gas Bridge Trader and Tradener Will Test Natural Gas Supply in Paraná to Diversify the Energy Matrix
The large Paraná Gas Company (Compagas) has signed an unprecedented agreement with suppliers of natural gas alternatives to Petrobras for the first time in its history: Gas Bridge Trader and Tradener. This partnership will bring innovation and diversification to Paraná’s energy matrix and stimulate the growth of new fuels at the national level.
The partnership established provides for the delivery of up to 10,000 cubic meters of natural gas per day to Compagas for a continuous period of 10 days. However, supply may be temporarily interrupted if there is not enough availability to meet the requirements, as established in the interruptible contract. Understand the benefits that these tests will bring to Paraná in today’s article.

Natural Gas Received in Paraná Will Come from Bolivia and in Reduced Volumes in the Short Term Due to Mobility Restrictions
The suppliers that have signed an agreement with Compagas will bring natural gas from Bolivia, but they cannot yet confirm exactly when it will start arriving in Paraná.

“The natural gas to be received under both contracts is from Bolivia. In the short term, the company does not expect to receive supply, given the confirmation of reduced fuel shipments by the neighboring country. However, together with Tradener and Gas Bridge Trader, we are monitoring the situation and looking for windows of opportunity to receive the contracted gas in Paraná.”

Moreover, initially, the natural gas will arrive in small quantities due to transportation restrictions. After all, Petrobras still holds a large part of the transportation contracts of the compound in Brazil, making it impossible to supply large quantities to other companies. Therefore, the interruptible contract modality was adopted. However, this gas will be channeled later, with the trend of increasing fleets from Bolivia to Brazil.
“Our last public call for hiring natural gas resulted, at the beginning of this year, in a new contract with Petrobras, as it was the only agent that demonstrated the viability of firm supply to ensure distribution to consumer markets. However, the contract was negotiated to allow future contracts with other suppliers. Now we are testing the interruptible contract modality to fill the idle gaps in the pipeline and manage to enable larger volume and longer-term contracts.”

Partner Companies Have Extensive Experience in the Fuel Market, Contributing to Sector Expansion in Paraná and Making Compagas a Pioneer
Tradener has been operating in the fuel sector in Brazil for 24 years, in Paraná, always aiming to bring greater sustainability. This is also the goal of Gas Bridge Trader, which is interested in increasing market competitiveness in the natural gas sector with this new partnership.
“The operation with Compagas symbolizes a new era: together we are opening the way for a competitive environment and outlining the future of the market. Gas is the main energy source in the transition to a low-carbon economy, in addition to ensuring the stability and energy security of the country.”

Compagas Still Has Open Public Call for Partnerships and Seeks More Suppliers
The company Compagas created a Coordinated Public Call (CP22) in 2021 for hiring natural gas distribution services, i.e., potential supplying companies. It remains open with the goal of establishing new negotiations and bringing pioneering efforts in supplying the compound in pipelines in Paraná.
This way, the company aims to make the market more competitive and benefit the final consumer, who needs alternatives for maintaining their daily activities more than ever.
