Acciona Energía arrives in Brazil next to the winds with wind energy projects, which total 850 MW to the Brazilian renewable energy market

Player global renewable energy company, free of fossil fuels, Acciona Energía, signed an agreement with the investor group – Casa dos Ventos – for the acquisition of two wind projects under development (Sento Sé I and II), in the state of Bahia, which together could reach up to 850 MW of power.

The company Acciona Energía signed an agreement with Casa dos Ventos for the acquisition of two wind projects under development (Sento Sé I and II), in Bahia, which represents the entry of the Spanish company into the Brazilian renewable generation market. The parks, which together can reach up to 850 MW of power, are in the process of obtaining the necessary authorizations for their execution, which are scheduled for next year.

This transaction represents the first step for ACCIONA Energía to enter the Brazilian renewable generation market. And the company is also analyzing other wind and photovoltaic projects to consolidate its presence in the country with the objective of being an active agent in the long-term energy transition and contributing to the decarbonization of the economy and business activity. The idea in the future, according to both companies, is to encourage the region's workforce, generating new jobs and income for the people of Bahia.

Wind energy parks by the Spanish company are already in the approval phase in Bahia

The transaction is subject to the fulfillment of certain conditions and the approval of the competent authorities. The Sento Sé I and II parks are in the process of obtaining the necessary authorizations for their execution, which are scheduled for next year.

With the authorizations, Acciona Energía will be able to approve the investment and start construction. The complete execution of both parks would mean an investment of around 800 million euros. This transaction represents the first step towards the company's entry into the Brazilian renewable generation market.

“The company is also analyzing other wind and photovoltaic projects to consolidate its presence in the country with the objective of being an active agent in the long-term energy transition and contributing to the decarbonisation of the economy and business activity”, says AccionaEnergía in a press release. With the transaction, the company seeks to expand the portfolio of projects under development and its geographic diversification to boost its growth plans.

“Acciona Energía has set the goal of doubling its size and reaching 20 GW of installed capacity by 2025, based on a portfolio of 9,8 GW of projects in advanced development, to which will now be added the 850 MW of the Sento Sé I and II wind farms”, he concludes.
