Kroma Energy Group Announced Investments of R$ 2.1 Billion in Two New Solar Power Plants in Ceará. The Company Highlights That Over 700 Jobs Will Be Created During and After Construction
On Wednesday (16), Camilo Santana, Governor of Ceará, and Rodrigo Mello, CEO and majority partner of Kroma Energy, part of the Kroma Group, were present at the Palácio Abolição to sign a memorandum of understanding for the installation of two solar parks in the interior of the state, creating hundreds of jobs for the local population.
Billion-Dollar Investments in the Energy Sector
The first solar power plant has been named Frei Damião and will be built in the rural area of Quixeré, on land owned by the company Cimento Apodi. The plant will have an installed capacity of 190 MW and will receive investments of R$600 million, potentially generating up to 700 direct and indirect jobs during and after its installation. The second solar power plant, named Arapuá, will be located in the rural area of Jaguaruana.
This plant will have an installed capacity of 500 MW and will receive investments of R$ 1.6 billion, generating about 1,750 direct and indirect jobs during its construction and after completion. According to the company executive, the construction of the two investments will begin in the second half of next year and will become operational in the first half of 2025.

The Kroma Group currently has a portfolio of projects with more than 4,800 MW of installed capacity. 162 MW of this total have been in operation since November 2018 in Ceará, specifically in Quixeré, at the Apodi complex. 101 MWp will have their construction started in the first half of this year, located at the São Pedro e Paulo complex in Flores (PE).
Memorandum of Understanding Focused on Green Hydrogen
Also on Wednesday, in addition to the Kroma Group, the state governor, alongside the Secretary of Economic Development and Labor Maia Júnior, signed a memorandum of understanding with the company H2 Green Power, which plans to produce green hydrogen at the Pecém complex.
So far, 17 protocols have been established to strengthen the initiative. Maia Júnior states that this is yet another significant step towards strengthening the Green Hydrogen Hub. In addition to the 17 already mentioned, there are three more to be signed in the near future, aiming to generate jobs in a new sector in Ceará.
The state governor stated that the goal is to put the Ceará in a prominent position in the production of clean energy in Brazil, and continues to work to attract more investments to its green hydrogen hub.
According to the Secretary of Economic Development and Labor, Maia Júnior, in an exclusive interview with the O POVO portal, there are four new companies wanting to be part of the Ceará green hydrogen project, and the signing of the companies should be registered this week. After the signing, the state will total 20 companies interested in the green hydrogen Hub.
The green hydrogen project in Ceará promises to generate thousands of jobs and income for the state. The central idea of the project, which was presented in mid-February of last year, will be installed at the Industrial and Port Complex of Pecém (Cipp), in São Gonçalo do Amarante.
