Chinese SUV Launches in Brazil with Price of R$ 319 Thousand, Luxury Package with Massage Seats and Power to Tackle Severe Trails

The GWM Haval H9 has arrived in Brazil and is already making waves. GWM launched its first seven-seat SUV and placed it directly into the battlefield of giants.

The target is clear: take market share from Toyota SW4 and Chevrolet Trailblazer, the veterans in the large diesel SUV segment.

Right in the first hours, the model showed strength. The first batch of 600 units sold out in just 7 hours, much earlier than expected.

The brand planned to sell that volume in 30 days, but the public rushed in and grabbed the entire stock in the blink of an eye.

Launch Already Came with a Price Increase

The launch of the H9 started with a price of R$ 309 thousand. GWM’s initial idea was to keep that price until September 20, then raise it to R$ 319 thousand.

But with the absurd demand, the increase went into effect immediately. Now anyone wanting the SUV already pays R$ 319 thousand.

This unexpected pace excited GWM, which is betting high on local production. Like the Poer P30 pickup, the H9 will be manufactured in Iracemápolis, in the interior of São Paulo. The brand wants to show that it has come to stay and compete on equal footing with the leaders.

Robust Mechanics Ready for Off-Road

The Haval H9 shares the same chassis as the Poer P30, as well as the mechanical set. It uses a 2.4L turbodiesel engine with 184 hp and 48.9 kgfm of torque, delivered early.

Half of the torque appears at just 1,000 rpm, with 100% arriving at 1,500 rpm, ensuring brute force.

The 9-speed automatic transmission was developed by GWM itself. It helps keep the engine always in the optimal range and avoids jerks.

In practice, this gives stamina on the trails and smoothness on the asphalt, which is great for those who use the car in various different scenarios.

Technology to Tackle Difficult Trails

If the competition is with SW4 and Trailblazer, the H9 is not here to play. It features front and rear differential locking, seven driving modes of the ATCS system, and the Tank Turn function. This system rotates the inner wheel and reduces the turning radius by up to 1.5 meters.

Furthermore, the model offers a 540° panoramic view with “transparent chassis.”

You can see the terrain beneath the car, which prevents bumps and helps choose the right line on tricky grounds. It’s the kind of feature that can make a difference on tough trails.

The numbers are also impressive: an approach angle of 31°, a departure angle of 25°, and a ground clearance of 22.4 cm.

The SUV tackles slopes of up to 57% (29.7°) and has the highest water wading capability in its category, reaching 80 cm. It’s almost an amphibian.

Luxury Car Comfort

Despite its sturdy appearance, the H9 surprises with its comfort. The front suspension is independent double A-arm type, with coil springs and 221 mm of travel.

The rear employs a rigid axle with five links, coil springs, and 235 mm of travel. In real use, the steering feels much smoother than that of the pickup.

The acoustic insulation also stands out. The windshield uses 4.76 mm double glass and the front windows have 3.96 mm.

The interior remains quiet even at higher speeds or on rough terrains, making driving much less tiring.

Sophisticated and Well-Equipped Interior

Inside, the Haval H9 delivers practically everything. The front seats have massage, heating, ventilation, electric adjustments, and memory.

The steering wheel is also heated. The second row has its own ventilation and exclusive sockets, and even the third row received air outlets in the ceiling and side storage compartments.

The multimedia system comes with a 14.6” screen and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wireless. There are voice commands in Portuguese and a 10.25” digital panel.

The premium sound system has 640 W and ten speakers, creating a highly immersive experience for all passengers.

Generous Safety and Space

The safety list does not disappoint either. The H9 offers six airbags and an ADAS 2+ package, with adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go, autonomous braking, blind spot alert, lane assist, cross-traffic monitoring, and integrated brake control (IBC).

Internal space matches the size of the body. The SUV measures 4.95 m in length, 1.97 m in width, and 2.85 m in wheelbase.

The trunk carries 88 liters with seven seats, 791 liters with the third row folded down, and up to 1,580 liters with all rows laid flat.

The Haval H9 arrives with a straightforward proposition: to challenge the segment champions.
