Honda Civic LXR 2015 Priced at About R$ 74,000, Over R$ 30,000 Less Than a New Hyundai HB20S, Features 2.0 Engine with 155 hp, Automatic Transmission, and 449 Liters of Trunk Space.

In August 2026, the Brazilian market brings together two cars separated by over a decade and different categories. The 2015 Honda Civic LXR 2.0 is listed at R$ 74,307 on the Fipe Table, while the 2026/2027 Hyundai HB20S Comfort starts officially at R$ 105,290. This results in a R$ 30,983 difference between a used mid-size sedan and a brand-new compact sedan.

The comparison becomes even more interesting when examining what the Civic offers. The LXR features a 2.0 i-VTEC flex engine producing up to 155 hp, a conventional automatic transmission with five speeds, independent suspension on all four wheels, 17-inch wheels, electric steering, and a trunk capacity of 449 liters. While it lacks the electronic safety features, connectivity, and warranty of a modern new car, it presents a mid-size sedan architecture that still attracts attention among used vehicles for around R$ 74,000.

Honda Civic LXR 2015 Priced at R$ 74,307 on the Fipe Table for August 2026

According to Webmotors, the Fipe Table for August 2026 establishes the reference price for the 2015 Honda Civic LXR 2.0 Flex automatic at R$ 74,307. The platform indicates a national average of listings around R$ 76,800.

This implies that the actual price for an example may vary above or below the Fipe value. Mileage, condition, maintenance history, location, provenance, and any bodywork repairs directly impact the negotiation value.

Nevertheless, the difference compared to a new compact sedan is significant. The 2026/2027 Hyundai HB20S Comfort starts at R$ 105,290, based on the manufacturer’s suggested retail price.

Almost R$ 31,000 Separates the Two Cars

When the prices are compared side by side, the calculation shows a difference of R$ 30,983. This amount should not merely be interpreted as guaranteed savings.

An 11-year-old Civic may require expenses for preventive maintenance, tires, suspension, fluids, brakes, and components worn over time, whereas a new HB20S comes with a warranty and essentially starts its lifespan anew.

The comparison highlights another question: how much the buyer is willing to exchange age for category. For the lower price, the Honda provides dimensions, power, and mechanical architecture typical of a mid-size sedan.

The Hyundai counters with a contemporary design, current safety technologies, and a lower risk of immediate expenses related to age.

2.0 i-VTEC Engine Reaches 155 hp on Ethanol

The heart of the 2015 Civic LXR is one of its main selling points. The four-cylinder 1,997 cm³, aspirated, and flex engine produces 155 hp on ethanol and 150 hp on gasoline at 6,300 rpm. The torque reaches 19.5 kgfm on ethanol and 19.3 kgfm on gasoline, both at 4,800 rpm.

This is a completely different configuration from the current entry-level HB20S Comfort. The Hyundai features a Kappa 1.0 three-cylinder, naturally aspirated engine with 80 hp, paired with a five-speed manual transmission.

Therefore, the Civic offers nearly double the maximum power of the base HB20S configuration. This doesn’t automatically make the used vehicle a better choice, but it helps explain the behavioral difference between cars originally designed for different categories.

Five-speed automatic transmission is simple compared to current gearboxes

The LXR 2015 uses a five-speed automatic transmission with a torque converter, in addition to paddle shifters on the steering wheel.

Today, five speeds seem few compared to modern automatics with six, eight, or ten speeds and CVT transmissions. At the time, however, the setup matched the Civic’s proposal and favored predictable operation.

This is also a point that needs to be inspected before purchase. In any automatic vehicle more than a decade old, the transmission maintenance history is more relevant than simply the general reputation of the model.

During a test drive, the buyer should observe engagements, gear shifts, possible delays, noises, and performance with the system already warmed up.

Independent suspension on all four wheels sets the Civic apart

Another component often overlooked in a price-based comparison is the suspension. At the front, the Civic LXR uses an independent McPherson setup.

At the rear, it employs an equally independent system with overlapping arms, a more sophisticated solution compared to a conventional torsion beam and associated with the dynamic behavior for which this generation is known.

The setup is complemented by electric steering and disc brakes on all four wheels, ventilated in the front and solid at the rear.

It’s precisely this combination of low driving position, independent suspension, steering, and the medium sedan body that gives the Civic a different experience from many more recent compact vehicles.

Measuring 4.52 meters long with almost 2.67 meters between axles

The Civic LXR 2015 measures 4.525 meters in length, 1.755 meters in width, and 1.450 meters in height.

The wheelbase is 2.668 meters, an important dimension for understanding the space allocated to occupants. Its declared weight is 1,294 kg.

These figures clearly position it as a medium sedan of its generation.

Those looking for a used car to transport adults in the back seat or for long journeys may find value in this combination of wheelbase, long body, and traditional three-volume configuration.

Trunk offers 449 liters for luggage

At the rear, there are 449 liters of capacity in the trunk. This figure is respectable, although there’s an interesting comparison with the current Hyundai: the HB20S has grown through its generations and now offers 475 liters in the more equipped versions, according to Hyundai itself.

In other words, being a midsize sedan doesn’t automatically translate to winning on all metrics. The contemporary HB20S demonstrates how compact cars have evolved in terms of interior space and load capacity.

In the Civic, the highlight lies more in the combination of passenger space, driving position, width, and road behavior than simply having a gigantic trunk.

Fuel consumption can reach 13.8 km/l on the highway with gasoline

The 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine was not designed primarily for extreme fuel economy. Technical data indicates 9.7 km/l in the city and 13.8 km/l on the highway with gasoline. With ethanol, the figures are approximately 6.4 km/l in urban driving and 9.4 km/l on the highway.

For a 2015 automatic 2.0 sedan, these numbers are consistent with the size and technology available at the time.

Still, a buyer who drives many kilometers daily needs to account for fuel costs. A modern 1.0 compact sedan tends to offer a significant advantage in efficiency, especially in urban environments.

17-inch wheels and low profile maintain a sporty appearance

Design is one of the reasons the G9 Civic remains recognizable even over a decade later.

In the LXR configuration, the model uses 17-inch alloy wheels with 205/50 R17 tires, fog lights, and a low body, with a height of just 1.45 meters.

The result is a significantly sportier profile than that found in compact sedans aimed primarily at family use and fuel efficiency.

It’s a subjective characteristic, but one that holds relevance in the used car market. Part of the Civic’s residual value is linked precisely to the combination of brand reputation, visual identification, and continual demand for the model.

Equipment still performs well, but technology reflects its age

The LXR offers a reasonable list of features for its time. Among the items listed in the technical sheet are automatic air conditioning, leather-wrapped seats, cruise control, multifunction steering wheel, onboard computer, height and depth adjustment for the steering wheel, electric mirrors, and paddle shifters on the steering wheel.

On the other hand, over a decade of technological evolution separates the Civic from a modern car.

The HB20S Comfort 2026/2027, for example, already offers six airbags, electronic stability and traction controls, and connectivity services, according to Hyundai.

This difference needs to factor into the purchasing decision. Power and sophisticated suspension do not replace modern safety features.

Safety is one area where the new HB20S holds an advantage

The 2015 Civic LXR features ABS brakes and front airbags, along with the safety features required and available in its generation. The consulted technical sheet also notes a rearview camera for maneuvers and an Isofix system.

However, the current standard has changed considerably.

In the HB20S, Hyundai lists front, side, and curtain airbags, electronic stability control, and traction control already in the current lineup. Higher versions add advanced systems like autonomous braking and lane assist.

Therefore, comparing only power, size, and price would lead to an incomplete conclusion.

At 11 years old, condition matters more than the badge

The Honda Civic has built a strong reputation in Brazil, but no used vehicle should be purchased solely for its reliability fame.

A 2015 model has already gone through over a decade of use. It may have passed through several owners, been heavily driven, experienced collisions, or received irregular maintenance.

Because of this, before paying R$ 74,000 or more, it is advisable to check the documentation history, structure, engine performance, transmission, suspension, cooling system, air conditioning, brakes, tires, and electrical components.

A cautious inspection and an independent mechanical assessment are particularly important for a Civic, as visually similar units may have completely different histories.

For about R$ 74,000, the Civic shows how much age can buy in category

In August 2026, the Honda Civic LXR 2015 remains in a particularly interesting segment of the Brazilian market.

Its R$ 74,307 according to Fipe places it over R$ 30,000 below the initial public price of the HB20S. In exchange for its age, the buyer receives 155 hp, automatic transmission, independent suspension on all four wheels, 4.52 meters in length, and 449 liters of trunk space.

There’s no magic in this equation. The Civic is older, doesn’t have the same warranty coverage, and lags behind a current vehicle in various safety and connectivity features.

The condition is simple and crucial: in the 2015 Civic, more important than finding the lowest price is finding the unit with the best history.
