Hybrid cars, which combine combustion and electric engines, have been overshadowed by the many important electric car launches throughout 2021, but some say hybrid models should make a comeback this year. Check below the 11 hybrid cars that will be launched in Brazil, by the giant vehicle manufacturers Honda, Volkswagen, Jeep, Chery, Kia, Mercedes, Hyundai and Jaguar!

Scheduled for launch this year, Tiggo 8 Pro, Chery's largest SUV, has an exclusive look and will be the brand's first hybrid. Chery's hybrid car has a redesigned front end, sharper headlights and a hexagonal grille with several chrome elements at the bottom. The interior has a neater finish than the version currently sold in Brazil. 

The SUV sold in China combines a 1.5 hp 156 turbo combustion engine with two other electric engines, one on each axle. Equipped with all-wheel drive, Chery claims that the Tiggo 8 hybrid accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds. Even more surprising is the promise of fuel consumption: more than 100 km/l.

The largest vehicle manufacturer in the world, Volkswagen decided not to buy the fight with the Jeep Commander and took the Tiguan Allspace out of the line in Brazil shortly after the arrival of the competitor. But the dispute will be inevitable this year, because the updated version of the VW model will arrive imported from Mexico. 

The unprecedented hybrid version of the German multinational has 245 hp and 40,8 kgfm. The combined torque comes from the 1.4 hp 150 turbo gasoline engine, which works together with the 116 hp electric propellant. They are managed by a six-speed automatic dual-clutch gearbox. The 9,2 kWh battery allows the Tiguan to travel 49 km on electricity alone.

Honda wants to bring the hybrid version of the SUV to Brazil. The HR-V would be the second of three electrified vehicles promised by the Japanese manufacturer by 2023. 

The car, which combines a combustion engine and an electric motor, shares a modern mechanical package with the Accord. There is a 1.5 i-VTEC aspirated four-cylinder gasoline engine, which generates 131 hp and 25,8 kgfm at 4.500 rpm, and two electric ones. One pulls the car, and the other generates power. 

The Japanese multinational has not yet disclosed the combined power of the engines, but in terms of consumption, according to the manufacturer, the hybrid car is capable of traveling 17,2 km with one liter of gasoline.

The new generation of Tucson should be launched here in Brazil in 2022. It inaugurates the brand's new visual identity, characterized mainly by the LED headlights integrated into the grille, also adopted in Creta sold abroad. 

In addition to the combustion versions, the Tucson will be offered in a hybrid variant, which combines the 1.6 turbo combustion engine with a 60 hp electric engine to deliver 230 hp and 35,7 kgfm.

See the new 2022 Jaguar F-Pace, the luxury and sporty SUV! 

The luxurious Jaguar F-Pace PHEV is available on the manufacturer's Brazilian website. The plug-in hybrid version will be positioned just below the sporty SVR. This means that its price will be above the BRL 537.950 of the R-Dynamic SE, but below the BRL 740.950 of the SVR. 

Jaguar's powerful and luxurious hybrid car combines a 2.0 hp 296-litre petrol engine with an electric 141 hp engine. In electric mode, it is possible to run up to 59 km. The 17,1 kWh battery takes about 30 minutes to recharge from 0 to 80% in a company device.

Meet the new hybrid Jeep Compass, better and more economical than the diesel model!

Compass and Renegade hybrids were promised by Jeep for 2020. With the pandemic and the shortage of parts, plans ended up being postponed and the arrival of the duo should only take place in 2022. 

The first to be released is Compass. It combines the already known 1.3 turbo engine – derived from the national Firefly – with an electric one, installed on the rear axle. In this way, Jeep achieves all-wheel drive, baptized by the 4xe brand. 

There are two power levels. In the intermediate version, there are 190 hp. The top of the line already reaches 240 hp and promises great performance, especially for a medium SUV. In both cases, the hybrid Compass can travel around 50 km using only the electric motor.

Kia is going to increase its line of electric cars in Brazil and launches, this year, the Niro, which had the new generation unveiled in South Korea. Kia's new hybrid car will be offered in different levels of electrification: hybrid, plug-in hybrid (which can be charged from an outlet or charger) or electric. Specifications have yet to be confirmed. For Brazil, Kia must choose between the hybrid version and the plug-in hybrid. 

The new generation of the Sportage, one of Kia's most successful cars in Brazil, arrives this year with a mild hybrid system, which promises to shake up the Jeep Compass!

The Kia Sportage's combustion engine will be larger and more powerful. It is a 1.6 turbo petrol engine with 179 hp, associated with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The Class C 2022 has already been presented by Mercedes-Benz, including prices. However, deliveries only started in January. The two available versions are equipped with a mild hybrid system. 

The hybrid car combines a 1.5 turbo combustion engine with 204 hp and 30,6 kgfm of torque with an electric generator. At the top of the line, C300, evaluated by Autoesporte, the engine is a 2.0 turbo with 258 hp and 40,8 kgfm. In addition to it, there is an electric booster to help reduce consumption by up to 10%, despite not pulling the car.
