Among the most active manufacturers in the electric automotive industry, Hyundai and Kia are among the top positions, with several electric cars on the schedule and improving technology that is already embedded in society. Not content with this, the Korean automakers plan to launch a new model known as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, by 2023, a popular electric car that promises to be the most affordable without losing the quality of the more expensive ones.

Hyundai’s Popular Electric Car Will Come to Market at a Price Lower Than R$ 155 Thousand

Electric cars in the current automotive industry still have a price much higher than their combustion equivalent models. However, with the arrival of new technologies, in a few years, their prices could plummet to comparable levels.

The arrival of new smaller models will also enable the offering of more accessible prices for popular electric cars, such as the urban SUV, Hyundai Ioniq 5, which is being developed by the Korean manufacturers.

According to information, the model could hit the automotive market in 2023 at a price of 25,000 euros, equivalent to R$ 154,600 in direct conversion, not considering incentives, that is, at the price of a popular electric car.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 Batteries Could Deliver a Range of 350 km

The information comes from BorgWarner, the manufacturer of components that equip the motors for the giants of Korea. The company will supply the Kia-Hyundai group with a motor that will be directly part of the gearbox and will be the differentiator in saving space.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5’s batteries will also be smaller and should allow the popular electric car to benefit from 40 kWh. Being a more urban vehicle, the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 will have a range of around 300 to 350 kilometers on a single charge, and the motor should deliver around 180 horsepower.

At Hyundai, the popular electric car could be named Ioniq 1 or Ioniq 2, while at Kia, it would be EV1 or EV2. It is worth mentioning that at the beginning of the year, the manufacturers presented their future line of electric models, highlighting the arrival of many models across all major segments of the automotive industry, as anticipated by a recent teaser from the brands.

The Cheapest Electric Car in Brazil

While Hyundai’s model has not been launched, the title of popular electric car goes to the E-JSI, developed by Volkswagen in partnership with JAC Motors. According to the Chinese automaker, the vehicle will have a maximum price of R$ 154,900.

The model, besides being the cheapest from the two companies, can also be a low-cost option in the automotive industry. The car measures 3.65 meters in length, 1.67 meters in width, and 1.54 meters in height.

The E-JSI is equipped with a motor capable of delivering 61 horsepower and a torque of 15.3 kgfm, allowing the vehicle to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 13 seconds. Its range, being an urban car, is up to 302 km.
