Partnership between Volkswagen and JAC Motors
The electric car that promises to be the cheapest in Brazil will be another project produced by the union of Volkswagen and JAC Motors. After the E-JS4, which has a design that also came from joint-venture Sihao, E-JSI was developed by SOL.
A joint-venture between Volkswagen and JAC Motors is a brand from China mainly focused on building electric cars. It is worth remembering that VW bought 50% of the owner of the JAC brand, Jianghuai Automobile Group Holdings.
JAC e-JS1 can replace iEV20
It is still unclear whether the Volkswagen/JAC Motors electric car will replace the iEV20 or whether the two could share a market. According to the automaker in China, the vehicle will be priced at approximately R$154.990, thus being R$5 cheaper than its “older relative”.
In addition to being the cheapest model from JAC Motors/Volkswagen, the electric car can be a low-cost option on the market. Currently in the country, only it, the SUV iEV40 and iEV20 are the only electric ones that do not have a price above R$ 200 thousand.
61 horsepower
The companies' new electric car has some differences from the other models, such as the rear that has gained a new design, but the front will still have a bar that separates the headlights, just like the E-JS4.
The vehicle has a length of 3.650 mm, a width of 1.670 mm and a height of 1.540 mm. The interior of the E-JS1 brings a more technological air compared to the iEV20.
Its multimedia center is the main highlight in the center of the panel. The digital instrument panel is located below the steering wheel. According to the brand, the electric car is equipped with an engine that delivers 61 horsepower, with a torque of 15,3 kgfm. This makes the vehicle reach 0 to 100 km/h in 13 seconds. Its battery has a capacity of 30,2 kWh, giving the car a range of 260 km in the WLTP cycle and 302 km in the NEDC cycle.
