Today, Petrobras Workers Already Count on This Differentiated Schedule. Third-party Employees Request Equal Conditions Through E-Cidadania, from the Federal Senate. The Legislative Idea Expires in November of This Year
Through E-Cidadania on the Federal Senate Portal, a Legislative Idea can give voice to an old dilemma of third-party workers in the offshore oil and gas sector. Working on platforms and production units, today they have a shift of 14 days on board and 14 days off (14×14), different from Petrobras’ own workers, who have 21 days off. It is worth noting that due to the new coronavirus, the on-board shifts have been modified for everyone while the pandemic lasts.
This is an old issue in the oil category that desires rest periods more comparable to those of the state company’s employees, after all, many times they perform the same functions on board the platforms. It is worth noting that this 21-day shift refers to Petrobras; other private operators also adopt 14×14, thus the claim addresses all units that operate in the Brazilian offshore.
Note: This proposal does not cover maritime workers, as they are under a different regime.

Justification for Flexibility of Schedules and the Scope of the Legislative Idea
The following text was taken from the portal: “The idea is to increase by one more group of workers in maritime units, oil platforms, increasing the number of jobs generated by operators in this segment, thus mitigating the confinement of employees and doing justice in the same schedule as Petrobras workers.
In the current scenario, only Petrobras has the 14×21 schedule, giving State employees a better quality of life with their families. Furthermore, the increase in groups will generate new lines of work, resulting in job creation in chains. Logistics, hospitality, more people working offshore, more jobs in logistics as well.”
