The Federal Institute of Espírito Santo Announced This Week the Opening of Enrollments for the Free Robotics Course Held in the EAD Mode. The Course Will Last for 60 Hours
The EAD Educational Robotics Course from the Federal Institute of Espírito Santo (IFES) is a free robotics course fully conducted online (EAD). Those selected must meet some technical requirements to participate, such as having a computer with internet access, Arduino IDE software, and other requirements specified by the Institution.
Requirements to Participate in the Free EAD Robotics Course from IFES
The initiative is part of the Lovelace Cut Project, a major reference to Countess Ada Lovelace, considered the world’s first programmer. The project was developed in 2018 with the online course “Lovelace’s Moodle, Python Programming Course: A Call for Girls to the Computing Career.”
Although it is part of a project named after the first programmer in the world, the free EAD robotics course from IFES is not exclusive to women. The institution states that all individuals with basic computer skills who have the desire to work with robotics are welcome, and it also encourages the participation of women in careers related to the technology sector. The target audience includes students in the final years of elementary and high school, professionals from the public and private sectors, and the general community.

Contents of the Free Robotics Course
This introductory course to educational robotics is at an intermediate level and will last for 60 hours, being 100% in Portuguese. The structure and content covered include Introduction to Robotics (history, resources, and concepts), Mechanics, Programming Mechanisms, Electricity, Design, among others.
At this stage, the goal of the free EAD course from IFES is to familiarize students with robotic mechanisms and examples presented in video lessons.
The second content is the practical experimentation of robotic projects using these mechanisms. In this part, knowledge will be deepened concerning the development of robotic projects, the development of skills in technological concepts, and the mechanisms to be used.
The third is the Scientific Olympiad, which aims to promote a focus on skills related to problem comprehension, transversal concepts, and the assimilation between logical reasoning and robotic mechanisms.
Differentials of the Free EAD Robotics Course from IFES
IFES points out that the differentials of its robotics course include the use of video lessons to explain the methodology and learning concepts based on mechanisms. Additionally, there is a “peer help” forum that can be used by students who have questions, along with activities oriented towards skill development and gamified activities.
Regarding the selection process, candidates will be subjected to questions related to videos, technical and creative projects, and questionnaires about knowledge of robotic mechanisms. It is important to highlight that the Federal Institute of Espírito Santo was founded in 2008, from the merger of technical schools and educational institutions focused on agribusiness.
The institution offers various free integrated high school and technical courses, higher education courses, independent technical courses, postgraduate degrees, specializations, and master’s degrees. In total, there are 23 campuses spread across various municipalities in the state of Espírito Santo.
