According to IFPI, applications are open for 70 completely free courses. There are, in total, 2,740 slots available for the first semester of 2025, distributed across 19 campuses of the institution.
The chance to study remotely attracts more and more students, especially those who do not have direct access to urban centers.
Application Details
For those interested, applications run from September 9 to October 27, 2024 and must be made exclusively through the official IFPI website. However, there is an important detail: it is necessary to have an account on the Gov.br portal.
If you do not have one yet, you will need to create it before starting the application process. Additionally, there is an application fee of R$ 40, but here is good news for those in a more delicate financial situation.
According to the announcement, candidates who are part of families registered in the Unified Registry for Social Programs (CadÚnico) and whose per capita family income is less than or equal to half a minimum wage can request a fee waiver. This measure aims to ensure that the process is truly accessible to everyone, emphasizes IFPI in its statement.
How the Offered Courses Work?
The courses are aimed at those wishing to enter higher education and are divided into three main categories: bachelor’s, licenciatura, and technologist.
Each of these formats caters to different student profiles, but all with the goal of providing education that prepares students for the job market or academic careers.
Bachelor’s Degree
Bachelor’s courses are the most traditional. They offer a generalist, scientific, or humanistic education, lasting four to five years.
Upon completion, the student receives a bachelor’s degree and will be qualified to perform professional activities in various areas. Candidates who are finishing or have already completed high school can apply.
Licenciatura
Ideal for those who want to become teachers in basic education, licenciatura courses confer the degree of licenciado, preparing students to work in schools across the country. The minimum duration of these courses is four years, and they are also targeted at those who have completed or are completing high school.
Technologist
Technologist courses are aimed at faster and more specific training. With a duration of two to three years, they ensure specialized training in scientific and technological areas. Upon completion, the student receives the degree of technologist, qualifying them to work in markets with high demand for technical knowledge.

The slots are distributed across several campuses throughout the state of Piauí, allowing people from different cities to access education. Classes will be in-person!
Among the municipalities covered are Angical do Piauí, Campo Maior, Cocal, Corrente, Floriano, José de Freitas, Oeiras, Parnaíba, Paulistana, Pedro II, Picos, Piripiri, São João do Piauí, São Raimundo Nonato, Teresina (Dirceu, Central, Zona Sul), Uruçuí, and Valença do Piauí.
