Market leader JBS started working with its new fleet of gas-powered trucks

The JBS subsidiaries, Friboi and Seara, started the pilot project for a truck powered by vehicular natural gas, known as CNG. In this way, the company JBS has an estimate that 15% of CO² is reduced, compared to truck models powered by diesel. For Friboi, the truck travels daily between the cities of Andradina, Lins and São Paulo, while for Seara, the truck makes the following route, São Paulo to Duque de Caxias.

Annually, the truck powered by natural gas offers a reduction of 7,6 tons of greenhouse gases, which is equivalent to emissions generated by 4 passenger cars, or even enough to drive around the globe by means of a passenger vehicle. According to JBS, the truck runs 100% on natural gas, and has eight gas cylinders. It is being the first truck fleet of its kind to arrive in Brazil.

In May, Scania delivers the first fleet of trucks powered by natural gas and/or biomethane in Brazil. Compared to the JBS truck, this truck has six gas cylinders.
