On July 16, 2026, Leapmotor presented a new line of the B10, an electric SUV also sold in Brazil. The Chinese update adopts an 800-volt electric architecture, silicon carbide semiconductors, and batteries compatible with 3C charging.

The prices were kept in an aggressive range for the Chinese market. According to CarNewsChina, the renewed B10 costs between 99,800 and 125,800 yuan, approximately R$ 74,800 to R$ 94,100, in direct conversion, at the rate considered during the launch, before taxes, freight, and import costs.

The combination draws attention because 800 V systems are still mainly associated with more expensive electric vehicles. Leapmotor tries to bring the technology to a higher volume category, where price, range, and charging time directly influence the purchase decision.

For the Brazilian consumer, however, there is a decisive difference. The updated B10 was announced for China, and the manufacturer has not yet confirmed when or if this configuration will be incorporated into the model marketed in Brazil.

800 V architecture reduces current and helps control heat

An 800 V architecture allows delivering the same power using less electric current than a lower voltage system. In practice, this can reduce energy losses, cable heating, and stress on some components during high-power charges.

The new B10 uses silicon carbide semiconductors, known by the acronym SiC. According to Infineon, a supplier of power electronics components, this technology can reduce conduction and switching losses, increase efficiency, and reduce the need for larger cooling systems.

The 3C classification indicates that the battery is designed to accept, under ideal conditions, a charging power equivalent to three times its nominal capacity. This does not mean that the car will receive maximum power throughout the process, as the curve decreases as the battery approaches higher levels.

Therefore, the announced 16 minutes apply to the 30% to 80% interval and depend on a compatible DC charger. Battery temperature, available power at the station, energy sharing between connectors, and initial charge state can alter the result obtained outside the laboratory.

Range reaches 610 km, but number follows the Chinese cycle

The renewed B10 will be offered with two battery options in China and can reach up to 610 kilometers of range according to the CLTC cycle. Data gathered by CnEVPost shows that the update is part of a commercial offensive by Leapmotor, which delivered 13,464 units of the SUV just in June 2026.

The CLTC cycle usually presents higher results than the standards used in Europe and Brazil. Thus, the 610 kilometers should not be directly compared with the range disclosed by Inmetro for the Brazilian B10.

The Chinese lineup also gained three power configurations. According to R7 Autos Carros, the options deliver 132 kW, 180 kW, or 185 kW, equivalent to approximately 177 hp, 241 hp, and 248 hp. The strongest version accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds.

The dimensions remain close to the already known model. The SUV measures about 4.51 meters in length, 1.88 meters in width, and has a wheelbase of 2.73 meters, similar in size to medium-sized utilities sold in the Brazilian market.

The manufacturer also states that more than 75% of the structure uses high-strength steels. Among the new electronic features is a system that attempts to maintain vehicle stability after a tire blowout, acting on brakes and trajectory control.

17.3-inch screen and LiDAR enhance the technology package

The interior received a multimedia center with a 17.3-inch 3K resolution screen, accompanied in the higher versions by a head-up display with a projected image equivalent to 55 inches. The entertainment system uses the Qualcomm 8295 processor, while the Qualcomm 8650 chip is responsible for driving assistance functions.

The Chinese lineup now offers a LiDAR sensor in all configurations, in addition to cameras and radars. The equipment measures distances by light pulses and provides data for features such as speed control, lane keeping, and obstacle detection, but its presence does not transform the B10 into a fully autonomous vehicle.

As reported by InsideEVs, the set also includes new electronic chassis controls and more powerful versions, but there is no confirmation that the 800 V package, LiDAR, and the new multimedia center will be brought to Brazil.

Brazilian B10 already announces recharge in 16 minutes

The recharge time can cause confusion because the version sold in Brazil already advertises the same 16-minute interval. According to the Leapmotor Brazil website, the B10 costs from R$ 182,990 and can recover from 30% to 80% of the battery at fast DC stations in this period.

This does not mean that the Brazilian car uses the new 800 V platform. The final time depends on the size of the battery, the average power received, and the curve programmed by the management system.

As shown by Motor1, the national B10 uses a 56.2 kWh battery, a rear motor of 218 hp, and offers up to 288 kilometers of range according to the Brazilian standard. Its architecture is identified as Leap 3.5, without an announcement of adopting the new 800 V system presented in China.

Taking a 56.2 kWh battery from 30% to 80% means replenishing about 28.1 kWh. To do this in 16 minutes, the vehicle would need to sustain an average power close to 105 kW, a technically possible value even without operating at 800 V.

The main difference in the Chinese update, therefore, is not just in the number displayed on the stopwatch. The higher voltage can help the system work with lower current, control heating, and maintain high power more efficiently, especially in larger batteries.

The 610 km in China do not equate to the 288 km in Brazil

The distance between the two numbers also does not indicate that the new version has more than double the real range. The Chinese model uses another battery, another mechanical configuration, and a different measurement procedure.

The Brazilian Vehicle Labeling Program gathers the approved consumption and range data of vehicles sold in the country. According to Inmetro, approved models receive the National Energy Conservation Label, allowing comparisons within the Brazilian standard.

A possible arrival of the updated B10 would require new approval. Price, official range, recharge power, and equipment list could change according to the battery chosen for Brazil and the costs of importation or regional production.

Update shows Leapmotor’s path outside China

A Leapmotor continues its international expansion through a joint operation with Stellantis. In May 2026, the companies reported that Leapmotor International holds 51% of Stellantis’ stake and 49% of the Chinese manufacturer, with rights for export, sale, and production of vehicles outside Greater China.

This arrangement may facilitate the distribution of future versions of the B10, but it does not guarantee that the Chinese package will be fully reproduced in Brazil. Equipment such as LiDAR, a 55-inch head-up display, and larger batteries may increase the price and alter the positioning of the SUV.

Until the brand presents a local confirmation, the Brazilian B10 continues with a 218 hp engine, a 56.2 kWh battery, and a certified range of 288 kilometers. The 800 V line currently serves as an indication of the technologies that Leapmotor intends to bring to its entry-level models.
